Default Cabin filrer covcer doesn't pop back in

I took the cabin filter covers off to examine the pollen filters. However, I'm not able to reinstall the covers back into place.

Trying to pop the cover straight down, it appears that both sides get misaligned and don't cover the filter properly.

Very frustrating. What am I missing here?

Is the little tab sticking straight up? You might also have to bend the little metal catch out a bit. If the cover is lined up in it's grooves, you should be good.

Ken, I was following Robin's instructions, but... "Installation is the reverse of these steps" and it's not happening for me.

Chris, the little tab is sticking straight up on the passenger side. On the driver's side I think it's turned a little to towards the fender. But the covers don't go in straight on either side.

Hmmm. Ironically, I did mine just this morning, and was thinking to myself how easy it went. Did you make sure the groove of the filter is completely in the housing? If I recall correctly, there's a smaller tab on the 3 o'clock position (driver's side) that lines up in the housing. Also, the wires under the clip (that you removed) were getting caught under the housing as I was putting it back together, but that was pretty easy to see.

Chris.

Also make sure none of the wires have got caught. They take a little bit of finesse, & brute force to get them seated.

I got the wires out of the way, I think.

But I'm not sure that the driver's side filter is re-seated properly. When it's in, should the big tab stick straight up?

I'm little help. I found the covers very difficult to get into place and took lots of finesse and patience. followed all the advice, etc. they are just not a great design....
