Default PPI in Kansas City Area

I have my eye on a '96 993tt and I need to get a PPI. I am over 400 miles away from the vehicle so I need a trusted set of eyes.

I was going to use Imagine Auto for the ppi, but they closed down the shop (errrgg).

Anyone have some experience with a trusted shop and mechanic in the area?

Cheers

The other shop in town aside from the stealer is Bob Hindson Motors/Racing. I've never had any personal experience with them however.

Another consideration: I'm not sure if he is 100% set up in his new shop yet but one of the head mechanics at Imagine Auto is opening his own shop. He is a personal friend and assuming he has the facility will give a thorough PPI on a 993. PM me and I will give you his email address.

I heard Bob Hindson may be on the way out also. +1 on Adam's recommendation. Karl will take great care of you. Best Porsche wrench in KC.

I can gladly look the car over for you. PM me a link to the car, and I may have even have worked on it.

+1 for Karl. If you just need someone to take a look for obvious issues, I'd be happy to. Can't perform a leak down or anything like that, but could take pictures if there are areas you need a look at

Thanks for the responses. I sent an email to Karl this morning and hopefully will arrange a ppi with his asap.

I appreciate the offers to go check out the car, but I need to have a compression and leakdown test
performed. I would also like the inspection to include the use of a paint meter to verify that there
has been no repainting on the car.

Hope this works out so I can have a 993tt in my stable

Cheers

Karl,

If you need a paint meter as you probably know Nunzio has one that he loaned me when I bought my G.

Hey John,

Found your email in my spam box, and sent a reply. I can definitely run the car up to nunzio (fantastic painter here in town and a club racer) and check the car with his paint meter.

if you don't any luck I would consider trying roger at Autopia, eurocar shop, in lenexa here in Kansas City. Ive had good luck with him on bmers & my 993. I don't think he's a porsche specialist like imagine auto was but hes good, honest and reasonable.
I've never used Bob Hindson aside from getting my wheels through them but I've heard some horror stories. Rumor has it they're not what they used to be. The were cool to me , nice guys but they did measure my car 3 different times to have my HREs custom fit to fit my widened body without using spacers and so on. The front ones still didn't come out the right size, they work but for what I paid I wasn't super pleased.

Where is the guy from Imagine opening his new shop and what's it called, please & thanks??

+1 on Roger at Autopia. Great guy, very straight, honest, and reasonable. He did all my service on my BMW e39 and did great work. I haven't had to get any service on the 993 yet but I wouldn't hesitate.
