Default 1995 Carrera 4 on ebay

I put my C4 on ebay this week. I attempted to sell it here last fall and had some interest but nothing worked out.

1995 Carrerra 4, VIN WP0AA2999SS323971, 136,xxx miles, Guards Red/Tan, 6spd, M030 springs and swaybars and Bilstein HD shocks at 100k miles. Thise car is a late 95 so no basket handle brake light. I purchased this car from Holt Motorsports at 68k miles. It has been my daily driver for the last 4 years. The bottom line is that my interests have changed and I want something I can put my family or my mountain bike in.

The ebay starting bid is $17,500 with a $21,000 buy it now. Rennlist has been really helpful to me so if a Rennlist member wants the car I'll end the ebay auction and sell it for $19,000. If you're not a Rennlist member then join before you contact me. If you want it for even less head on over to ebay.

Here is the link to the ebay auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_500wt_1182

I've been ridiculously honest about the condition of the car in the ebay description so you can read up there. If the car does not sell on ebay or here maybe I'll re-list it, maybe not.

Thanks for checking out this post!

No way, that is LOW, don't tell me the market is getting that low, that's 964 price range.

How were your dealings with Holt? They have a lot of seemingly nice cars on their website. They also have inventory (like Truspeed and others) that have been there for months and over a year.

I have stopped in at Holt's only once. He has a nice looking inventory but he is a bit pricey, in my opinion.

damn, nice looking car, and great price, but that rust is offputting.

I'd imagine that would run at least 2k+ to fix.

You ever get an estimate on getting it fixed? If its not too much, you could possibly have it fixed, and ask a bit more.

I have not gotten an estimate on getting the rust fixed yet but that is why the outer rear window trim is off. I removed it to get a handle on what was going on. If the car doesn't sell I'll be pulling the rear glass and getting it taken care of. The rust is the primary reason I priced it the way I did. Most other Carreras on the market between 50k and 80k miles are in the mid 20's so I'm leaving some room to get that repaired and be in the car for a an amount that reflects the mileage and condition of the car. I'm doing my best to represent the car fairly based on what I see the market doing. I've got no bids yet on the auction so I must not have low-balled it too badly though someone could be waiting to snipe it.

I had good dealings with Tim Holt. Seems like a straight shooter to me. He does seem to have cars in inventory for a long time waiting for his prices but he doesn't inventory sketchy cars as far as I can tell so he waits for his price. Everybody has to make a living.

having a rust issue is one thing but leaving it exposed is a horrifying sight AND it is only going to get worse....i would have at least protected that area with some por-15 under the seal and over the entire rust area and repaint it red to protect it....doesn't have to be a perfect job just enough to keep your eye from shooting to it and show the potential buyer it is contained.

it would still be there, needs to be disclosed, but it would help the sale of the car....

I just pulled the outer gasket last weekend. I'll be using some chassis saver (similar to por-15 which I am also familiar with) to protect the area this weekend until the glass comes out for a more thorough fix. (provided the car doesn't sell) I wanted good pictures for full disclosure during the auction. Showing containment does seem worthwhile, thanks for the advice.

also if you have it in your budget and have the time, i would pull the car off ebay and fix the bearing noise that you refer to in the description...then relist the car with cleaned up rust areas and bearing repaired...

w/high mileage, rusted rear windshield areas and bearing noise it is no wonder you are not getting bids on your car...

i think you'd be lucky to get a bid of $15K they way the description reads...

just trying to help!

when i sold my 993 last month, i made sure all issues were attended to so it wouldn't be a stumbling block during the sale.

**but remember, even going to great lengths to make sure the car is solid doesn't guarantee the buyer still won't complain...2 weeks after selling my car the buyer complained of a problematic clutch and freaked out about a possible bent front frame...funny that he never contacted me after having the car professionally checked over with positive results....selling a car can be interesting entertainment

That rust damage looks advanced enough to warrant cutting/welding/lead filling, etc.

No way to tell, really, until the glass comes out. If I fix it though, it will be done right.
