I bought some touch up paint from paintscratch.com and the color is pretty close, but it looks like measles in certain light.

Yup! I wouldn't use the alcohol/water solution, just slip solution. I have a set of instructions I wrote for a couple of people I just mailed a few sets to I can give you... or I should probably post them on our website and here. On a different computer now, will do it later.

I never knew it was so easy that one could do it without the aid of a body man. I was planning to get new 3M put on the front and I though I would have the same guy install the new stone guards but perhaps I should try and do it myself. Is it that easy? - Glenn
It isn't hard at all. Especially if they were done before... they peel off easy, as Mike and Mr. Moffat noted. If yours is already nekkid, even better!

Funny, Darin's peeled right off, no glue left on the car.
My blue car was a nightmare, came of in little pieces.
The black car came off in one piece... but the glue residue was a mess.

I suspect it has something to do with time spent in the sun.

Mark, yes, the WB guards are totally different and they have a cutout to make it over the lower rocker panel. A bit more work and larger. I am planning to finish them up this week.

There's a slit cut-out so the rocker section curves along the rocker allowing the upper "fin" section to follow the front face of each fender. I just had mine redone four weeks ago.

thanks Matt! Beat me to it.

Also, the sets on eBay are NOT the right thickness for the rear fenders. I checked those out when I was looking at doing mine...
They need to be 14 mil, not 8 mil.

8 mil is great for other parts of the car but the rear fenders will take a beating with the thinner stuff.
14 mil, 3M product is what you get from Porsche if you order. That is exactly what I am using.

(Mark H., I am almost done with the widebody version... have the template done so not long now!)

Dang, just had a new one put on. Wish I'd thought of the clear approach first. Looks great! Soooo, (in the continuing RL spirit of encouragement to help remove money from my wallet...) about how much will a widebody set cost?

(hmmm, I think we need a RL specific smiley of a wallet with dollars flying out of it. )

I agree with the idea of the RL smiley. I am starting to lose my smiley with the number of times that I opened my wallet this past month. I bought my set of stone guards from the local Porsche dealer for $270 Cdn plus 13% tax. I also discovered that like everything else, it is no good replacing just one fog light. The new one looks way too new! Another $325 and I hope I can be satisfied for a bit. Now where is that new smiley? - Glenn
