GT3 Seats Install - Complete!
After doing some research and gathering opinions here on this forum, I decided to go ahead and put GT3 seats in my car. I thought long and hard about getting the Recaro PP's instead, but when I came upon a set of nice, used 996 GT3 seats in leather from another lister (thanks, Al Z ), I could not pass up.
The seats arrived a week ago and they were in great condition. They were mounted on OE side mounts and 996 manual sliders (OE sub-bars included). Before the seats even showed up, I decided to go with the new Brey Krause adapter kit (9043) designed to mount 996 sliders on a 993. These are special order items and quite expensive ($140 per seat!!!! ), but as I'll explain later, well worth the money. My other option was to go with Recaro sliders and side mounts (an option suggested by ViperBob), but ultimately, this route would have been more costly. I also purchased a set of BK harness mounts (9001 and 9003) at ViperBob's recommendation.
I finally got around to installing the seats yesterday. The whole job took a total of 3 hours, and probably one of the easiest DIYs (ok, not the "Open Beer Watch Wrench Work On My Car" easy). But man, are the stock power seats HEAVY! My back is still hurting from pulling those suckers out.
The BK Adapter Kit really made the install a breeze. It came with detailed instructions with pictures. The adapter kit comes with all the necessary hardware, and 4 brackets get bolted down to the stock 993 mounting points. The 996 sliders then fit perfectly over these. The seats plop right in and there's plenty of room for the seats to go all the way back. I guess the only downside to using this adapter kit over Recaro sliders (or mounting seats directly to the floor) would be the higher seating position. I'm only 5'8", so this is not a problem for me.
Well, here are some gratuitous pictures once it's all said and done. Oh, and thanks to TR6 for the BK Harness Truss. Now I need to get myself some harnesses!

Wish BK had this kit when I did my GT3 seat install 2 years ago.
Would have saved me from bending the tabs and gringing down the pins on the 996 sliders.
However, after I bent the tabs and grinded down the pins, the GT3 seats installed without a hitch.
Can't really tell how far back from your pics.

I am also on the verge of pulling the trigger on some of these. I kinda hate to lose the tilt feature. I am going to check one more time on Cobra Misanos, but those are quite sexy...

Mike,
The seats and the interior look outstanding. I like the 996 wheel w/ silver badge...great compliment to the seats. Sounds like it was a lot of work getting the seats in, but IMHO the GT3 seats look awesome in 993. Nice job.

Looks like you did a great job. The seats look awesome in the 993, almost like they belong in there. Guess I got another thing I can add to my wish list

The BK brackets do raise the sliders by a 1/4 inch, so I can move the seats pretty far back before the outside seat mount touches the carpet behind. I can move the seat further back and take another pic if folks are interested.
