92 Carrera RS
Last weekend I visited one of the forts on the Maginiot Line. Basically a small fort in the middle of Alsace. So I was pretty surprised when I walked out of the bunker and saw this sitting in the parking lot.
I had never actually seen one before, so it was pretty cool, in some ways it was the highlight of the visit to the Maginiot Line. I really enjoyed the Maginiot Line, but seeing this Porsche was totally unexpected.
Enjoy,

This brings back memories. From last year . Magnesium wheels, thin glass, aluminium hood, about 354Kg of trimmed weight will do wonders. Now I'm nostalgic.

Mine did not have a sunroof (good eyes but I know there was a touring variant (power windows, dual mass-flywheel, electric seats) that did have a sunroof. Kind of an oxy-moron but it still an RS.

Can't really tell by pictures alone, as to the authenticity, but the rear logo is correct. The script/font should not be the same on a real RS. Also the under door graphics (for those who wanted them) were dealer applied.

I always thought the Touring RS had foglights and no ducts(?) The Touring version is pretty rare, isn't it?
But there seem to be a lot of replicas out there: http://www.jasmine-motorsport.co.uk/...s/project1.htm

But it looks nice nonetheless.

Very few ordered the Touring version because it "undid" al the weight savings. But you could select options, so you could have ducts or foglights, and a host of other choices including insulation and power everything. My RS was completely bare bones, no sunroof, pull doors, thin glass, etc. Very noisy but addictive.

I thought the tourings were rhd, as the Uk press slated the 964RS for it's lack of comfort on the road when launched.....there is enough on that car to make you think it is more likely a C2 conversion.
Here is a rare touring. 1 of 7 uk cars.....the majority of RS were M002 lightwiegts,,just over 2000 made and 290 M003 clubsports.

The car was actually a bit rough. When I saw it, I wondered if it was authentic also.
The interior is what made me think it was real. RS door panels, seats were aftermarket track seats, rear seat delete with roll bar. It did have a radio. I didn't think to look for AC controls.
Take Care,

Sunroof was never an option on the RS AFAIK. The decals are aftermarket and I agree, they don't look very flattering. A roll bar AND a rear seat delete? Interesting...
HVAC controls are standard across the line, the RS would be no different. RS door cards can be added later on, as well as the Big Black brakes, and ducts that the car has currently in the front.
