Forget about diesel truck oil ... the ZDDP level is only 1100 ![nono](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/nono.gif)
Stick with a ZDDP level of 1200 or above for our engines ... all Mobil-1 15W-50 oils are rated at 1200 and have a proven track record![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)

Hey Paul,
Here you go:
http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...duct_Guide.pdf
As for SM vs SL, depends on what one is looking for. The SL being older typically has the better zinc/phos numbers (good for protection, not good for the cat). Then there are those that maintain the latest spec SM has the more advanced addit. package. Draw what conclusions you may ...I don't know enough, except to use the zinc/phos numbers (expressed by zddp) to "suggest" the better oil to use.
As I have mantioned before, the 15w/50 stuff scores of us typically have used shows well on paper, but I am interested in using a thinner cold-pour oil for my all-weather daily driven 993. So the 5w/40 TDT seems like a good candidate ...to this ignoramous, anyway.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Are there any recent independent tests that show the ZDDP levels of Mobil 15w 50? I'm no expert, but I'm not clear on why the nominal phosphorus level is a direct indicator of ZDDP. Isn't the phosphorus just one component?

I dropped off the Mobil 1 wagon and am now running Swepco...works great and has a high ZDDP level. I just got tired of figuring out which Mobil one to get (truck, car, motorcycle, car, no, truck...), they are always changing, and Swepco is stable, proven and available in 5 gal containers locally....and all I use their gear oil in my trannys for the last 15 years with zero problems...
I think Steve W. recommended Swepco a while back as well.
