The Caffetteria Restaurant around the corner from the espresso bar/dessert counter is another culinary experience to indulge in as well .. it's the same food that is served in the factory cafeteria's .. all this delicious locally sourced, organic and nutritionally balanced food .. burgers and fries, ribs, fish, steamed veggies, salads .. they hand you a translucent electric green 'debit card' when you walk in and when you order stuff, the staff just scans the item into your card and when your done, you stop by the cashier on the way out and settle the bill. It's sooooo civilized.
So, 'Note to Self' ... pack stretchy jeans ...

Hello Jäger,

one question for the 993 Speedster from #576. Do you know who did the Speedster-Conversion? 9M, Freisinger, Ruf, Porsche in Stuttgart or somebody else?
Did you speak to the dealer? At what price did he sell the car?

@ all:

I had the best apple-cake ever in the the caffetteria of the Porsche-Museum.
Don´t go there too often…

Hey Andreas ... I know Jäger's been really busy with school lately and may not be on RL very often ..
So, just a heads up .. the Speedster your asking about is a 964 conversion with a 993 body kit. You can tell by the wiper positions on the cowl, at least that's the biggest tip-off. I think there's an old dealer listing for it in the 993 Speedster thread on here ...

That picture was taken at a dealer in Belgium years ago. It was sold to the neaterlands and I think that is still the location where it is placed. The softtop and the rear-covering is a G-Model-version, so it's not the perfect choice...

Thanks to Jon and Mark for the answers!
But also Mark Porsche has the 1989-Speedster parts
on his 993 conversion... I would also choose these parts
for a Speedster-Conversation, because I´m not happy with
my 964-Speedster Top and Rear Covering. It always makes
noise - (metall hooks on plastic are not clever), and water comes
in quickly. I never had these problems with my 1989 Speedster

by the way, Marc is this your car on facebook?

I have no rattles or noise from my '94 clamshell and top .. maybe yours just needs to be adjusted ..?

Anyway, actually Mark Porsche's Speedster which was built by RUF at the RUF facility, not at the Porsche factory, is a mixture of both '94 and '89 parts. The top is the early '89 design which of course means the doors are also the early '89 doors because of their unique seals and stampings. The clamshell, however is a '94 that's been drilled and fitted with Tenax fasteners to accommodate the early tops fastening points. Also, Mark had RUF widen the rear fenders but used the cars original narrow body rocker/longitudinals. The wider fenders were then 'blended' into the narrow bodywork .. a very interesting and clean look really ... here's a repost of that car from approximately post 406 and on where you can see the '94 clamshell clearly with the added tenax fasteners ..:

Speed-Star: Yes, that's my car, still with the red number-plates from freisinger in 2007.

Maybe, the G-Model-softtop is technical better, optical I prefer the 964-solution. Especially, if you drive open (should be standard with the Speedster) the 964-rear-covering looks much better than the older one with the black belt.

JJP: we are going up to 280km/h with the closed softtop on the autobahn and than - maybe - the 964-softtop makes more noice than the old one. But I have no experiences with it, I only know, that the 964-softtop is loud at that point...

Since last Wednesday my Speedster is located at AP Cardesign in Göttingen, the full-leather interior is calling...

This weekend the Speedster will sleep with some nice GT2s...

Yep, that berlinMotorBooks.de, publisher of Speed-Star's book!

Andreas-- You know more about this mobile? Looks like it wasn't born as a 993.

There are some more videos on youtube (berlinmotorbooks) with my Speedsters. We went down to the Monaco Grand Prix the last year with my red WTL Speedster. My brother filmed when we met Ferarri´s and Mercedes SLS on the way to Monte Carlo.

One more picture from the way back from Vienna to Berlin with my summer toy...! A lot of work is to be done, but without it would be boring

Hi Andreas, you are a joker!

We talked twice about the Speedster in Vienna and you told me, the car is sold. But you never blab, that you are the new owner, what a surprise! All the best for your Speedster-collection and I think it's time for a 993 Speedster-meeting in Germany.
