How do you actually get additional camber in the rear using aftermarket monoballs?

Dumb question probably, but I don't understand how aftermarket monoball plates help you get additional camber in the rear. I thought the limiting factor on stock setups was the adjustment of the eccentric washer?
Are aftermarket monoballs offset inwards, thus causing more negative camber?

I don't believe that mono-***** affect camber one way or the other(except eliminating camber delta from bush flex)
Camber eccentrics, bolt & washer, This is an RS ecentric set w/ wider adjustment range. The other potential limit is the length of the slot in the side piece, but that can be fixed w/ a grinder if necessary.

My bad, the monoballs aren't going to change camber whereever they are. Camber plates have wider adjustment range, you can move the top of the strut as well as the bottom. Stock camber is only adjusted at the bottom of the strut by turning the upper of the 2 bolts that hold the wheel carrier to the strut.

Thanks. So how much camber can you get then in the rear (with or without monoball plates)? For whatever reason I thought my alignment guy told me I was maxed out around -2 deg. Perhaps that was the front and there was indeed much more play in back.

As Geoffrey said they don't use a camber plate in back
this is a typical set up, JIC, using mono-***** f/r but only has a camber plate in front.

In back -2* camber is typical for stock 993 parts.

The best way to get more camber adjustment in the rear is by using ERP type parts.

Part #4 are the camber pieces. Of course this will reduce the ride quality, if your car is a dd then it may be on the rough side. If you are after the ultimate on adjustability then this is the way to go.
As everyone has said, there is no adjustment in the plate for the rear, it is either by eccentric or the option above.
