use the search function - oh yeah - you can't!!!!! its not working!!!

lots of comments on them. if you live in Los Angeles people seem to have better experiences if they can go pick up what they need.

Default Go there in person if possible

I was looking for a windshield and talked to one of the guys there. He quoted me a price of $250, but later called me to tell me he made a mistake and couldn't sell at that price. The price was to be $400. Dealer charges about $1100 for the same windshield new, so I figure I take a chance and go there to pick one up. After speaking with my shop about getting the glass installed and got helpful advice on how to inspect the glass for damage, I went down there in person, thinking I'll just pick up the part and pay. Even after promising me a good deal, once I got there he told me the price was $400. After I reminded him that he promised me a good deal, he dropped the price down to $350.

The problem is that despite telling him that I will be there and me actually being physically there, the glasses was still on the wrecked cars. The guy wanted me to go back in a fewe hours, I told him I can wait, but he really didn't want me to. I told him I needed to check the glass when it is out of the car to make sure the edges are not damaged. My preoccupation with the fact that I couldn't inspect the glass got him really agitated. He gave me the best advice that day -- If I didn't want to risk buying a bad part, just go get a new one from the dealer. With that said, I thanked him and walked away.

In retrospect, I should have known to try to buy stuff that came off cars that were wrecked, burned, or just in really bad shape. I'm not a structural engineer, but the impact some of these cars saw during the crash must be unbelievable and while the part may look alright, who really knows. There are plenty of postive feedbacks on the place on eBay, so I'm sure other people have had good experiences with them. Personally, I think I'll rather pay more to get a new part so I don't have to worry about a part failing on me.
That's just my opinon,
YMMV.

I ordered a part for my 96 cab, it was the plastic piece that spans the width of the car and is above the front glass on the inside. This is the piece that holds the interior light, and goes along the inside edge of the top of the windshield. They sent me the wrong part, they sent the piece that goes on the convertible top and retracts with the top when it is lowered. I called and spoke to them about the mixup personally. I then took 4 pictures and sent them via email. They said to return the part and they would make it right.

I sent the part back and never got the part I ordered. Each time I called they would say they would check into it, I had a trip out of town for 10 days, and did not keep up with my shipping documents. The next time I talked to them they said they had no idea what I was talking about and did not recieve any package from me.

I would not deal with them.

I had a rather sobering experience with them two or three years ago. My purchase involved thousands of dollars worth of 964/993 clocks and they flat out lied to make a sale.

I'll pay retail Porsche prices before I **** away another dime with those charlatans.

I have had a few experiences with these folks, none of which were too pleasant. Lots of talk, excellent condition, perfect in every way etc. only to arrive to something far from it. Then price changing from the time of the phone call to arrival. LOL

recently inquired about cats for my Turbo -- they were 40% more than the dealer for brand new cats!!

I have had no experience with LA Dismantler but, given the negative comments here, I'm glad. I have had relatively good experiences from dC Automotive and Oklahoma Foreign.

If you're in the LA area it means you have shipping to worry about but they deliver what they promise. They'll also remind you that you are not buying new parts.

I've used the guys at DC auto and have nothing but great things to say about them. Plus, they're track rats and you'll see them at VIR all the time.

I've had great experiences w/them. My car has a lot of bits from there and I've always received what i needed and if there was an issue, it was a no-hassle swap or $ back. Todd has always treated me very well. No complaints.

I had good luck with them buying rear leather seats and all the bits. Talk directly with Todd, even though he is hard to catch. They shipped the same day I ordered and everything was as expected.

But, I was scared to open the box based on what everyone here said. They were the only place in the US that had the parts that I wanted. No regrets.

I have had no problems but I pick everything up locally and inspect before I buy. They are typical junk yard guys. Verify before buying.
