Is LA Porsche Dismantlers always like this? Survey says...yes, pretty much
Just got off of the phone with LA Porsche Dismantlers to check on the offsets of a set of wheels they are selling. The guy I spoke to went to look at the wheels but did not know what the offsets are. He said, "They came off a 964 C2 with some aftermarket bodywork. If you like them and think they're a good deal, buy them. You can always add spacers or machine the wheels to fit. Anyone will tell you that you can get any wheel to fit if you try hard enough." I told him that he can measure the backspacing but am concerned that the shining new technology of a ruler might be a bit of a challenge and lead to inaccuracy.
So far, I'm not impressed. Are they always this way? Just want to know if I should avoid them or if this was an anomaly.
Thanks.

I think they're overwhelmed by their inventory and/or number of inquiries. I got a small part from them on Ebay and it shipped very promptly. OTOH, I e-mailed them about some wheels, and got:
Thanks for contacting LAPD, we are sorry to notify you, but we do not carry the deck lid. Please contact us in the future as our inventory is constantly being updated.

Mark,
My experience is that they're often worse than that...they're generally overpriced for what they have, are unresponsive to questions and don't accurately describe the condidtion of their items (this was the case on my last purchase...and I do mean last purchase).

Hmmm, mixed reviews. Okay, I won't summarily give up on them. Thanks, guys.
I'd still like more feedback, if possible.
Rick, I love the photo of you at Mosport; your car looks right at home in a tractor pull! Hope nothing bad happened...

Mark,
There was just a thread on LA Dismatlers the other week. Unfortunately I caved and ordered from them a few months ago - not a pleasant experience.

So what are the alternatives? Name another boneyard with lots of 933s sitting around waiting to be picked clean for cheap. I wish there was a Porsche Pick-N-Pull near here.

Last year the local dealer quoted me $67 and 6-8 weeks for one windshield washer relay. I went on line and bought a full and complete fuse/relay box for $180 incl shipping from LA Porsche dismantlers.
