Best things to do in Germany ?

Boy, this thread brings back some great memories. How about the Black Forest? On one trip, we stayed in Freiberg a few days and really enjoyed it. Speaking of museums, if you get a chance, go to Mulhouse in France just across the German border and go to the French National Automobile Museum (The Schlumpf Collection...World's largest collection of Bugattis...and any other marques..in an unforgettable setting.)

I've been wanting to go to Germany for a second time myself. Great ideas in this thread. The Ring is an absolute must and even though I know driving flat out (to the limit of the car that is) on a six lane highway is no comparison, it would be nice to drive an unrestricted stretch of Autobahn at least once in a lifetime.
One word of warning - when you return to the states, you'll hate unskilled/undisciplined American drivers even more. Also, you'll find yourself automatically driving triple digits when conditions allow.

Absolutely... When I lived in Vienna in the late '90's we would often drive into Bavaria for day trips just to enjoy the drive. Not only are the Germans decent drivers but their cars are well maintained and the roads are top quality too.

the best experience is picking up your car at the factory in Stuttgart! My face still hurts from smiling all day when I picked up my C2 993 on July 6, 1994. They treated us like royalty and then introduced us to our car under a spotlight in an arena of about 150 other cars. I even saw the interior of a car being constructed for Maria Navratolova out of snake skin. If you can ever do it, pick it up at the factory. It is special.
