Stone chips, argh!
Seems like every time I take my car out for a drive I come home with a new stone chip - or three. I knew these cars were chip magnets, but it's worse than I thought. I'm trying to decide if I should just spring for a clearbra now and put it over the existing chips so things won't get any worse, or wait until I need a respray and then install the clearbra. Opinions welcome...

I had my front re-sprayed and waited a few months before having the clear bra installed. While I was waiting, stone chips kept getting worse and worse. I touched them up and had the clear bra installed. You might as well do it now....

At the first DE I went to a guy showed up with a brand spankin new F355, car didn't even have 100 miles on it, he had pretty much picked it up, took it to mount slicks, and then drove it up to Willow Springs. He was giving people rides, tossing it around the track, someone asked if he was worried about nicks and scratches..
His response, "I consider them a badge of honor from the track"
BTW my 993 is black...

I had my front end covered with the clear bra after a re-spray, and the got a stone chip on the trunk lid about 6" above the film within a week. Then to top it off, I hit one of those stupid parking stops and put a hairline crack near the bottom of my front bumper cover. Honestly, most people don't notice these things. I have decided to take my wife"s advice and live with it for a while, because something is bound to happen again. Best of luck, whatever you decide.

+1000 rock chips and counting
After our last mountain run on New Year's Eve, I spent well over an hour touching up rock chips all over the car. I actually wore out the tip on the touch up pen. In the wrong light it looks hideous, but from afar, it's still OK enough to live with...badge of honor. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Looks like some touch up paint is in order before I clear bra. Is there a consensus on which is the better system, paintscratch.com or Dr. Colorchip? (I'm sure this has been discussed before, but searchie still brokie)

I've been very happy with Dr. Colorchip on my midnight blue 993. If you go that route pay attention to the instructions to wipe petroleum jelly on the rim of the bottle before you screw the lid back on or you'll end up breaking off the cap with vice grips the next time you need to use it. Ask me how I know...

Go with the full hood clear bra. It's Invisashield or 3M, I don't remember which, that makes sheets wide enough to go all the way to the top of the hood. A week after I had mine installed a rock hit the hood just above where the partial sheet would have stopped. As it was, it took a small chunk out of the plastic and ricocheted into the windshild (quick trip to Novus). However, without the clear bra I would have visited Dent Wizard, too.
