Don, The car runs strong with a slight miss every now and then while idling in neutral. I can't imagine it running stronger. The clutch is nice and tight with no noise and no slipping. The PO said it was replaced ~96K (now has 109k). I did do a carfax and nothing came up except supposedly, a trailer hitch gouged the front bumper cover and the owner before this guy took that as an opportunity to put on the RS split. I have the so-called- report which as I said was not a "complete" report, but I can't believe any mechanic with such a large operation in Tampa (and having taken care of the car for 6-8 years) would not have noticed the bulb out or obviously, if it was on. I too think that my best recourse will be to put some pressure on the wrench! BTW Marv, I wish I COULD find a set of wires for $200. $400+ is what I'm seeing.
Bernie,
What actions have you taken to notify the PO and/or PPI shop of your dissatisfaction? It's been 10 days since you initially described your findings here.
F.W.I.W., Find out if the P.O. realy owned and maintained air planes, I suspect that was bogas also as no (live) pilot would would drive a car delivered as you described.
Six gun, I have the same feeling as do you about that, but there is no way I can find out. At this point (Andreas) I have emailed him my intentions and have tried to indicate the levels to which I will go to obtain some sort of satisfaction from either him or the mechanic in Tampa, but he has not answered yet. I'll wait until the close of business tomorrow and then get back in touch with the folks at ebay. Hey Rinty! The car goes to his shop tomorrow and I'm on his first thing to do on Thursday. We were supposed to drop it off early (Wednesday evening) but wet weather is coming our way and with the sunroof gaskets leaking as they do, I'm going to wait until Thursday to drop off the car.
BTW; I have a few questions that you guys might be able to answer in regards to the spare, a mystery wire and a couple of other things. I need for my son to finish down-loading some stuff from our remote drive after dinner so I can attach relevant pics. Stay tuned!
Regards
Bernie (getting closer to the answer day-by-day)
Marv, I looked on their website. $419 for the double set!
Ok here goes my new questions. The PO finally sent me the spare mini tire. I can't get it into the floor of the bonnet. I think the CD changer(CDC-3) may be in the way. Does anyone know how to remove the changer? There is a sort of dial on the side closest to the bumper that has a "coin-turnable" slot is that what releases it? It is not obvious other than two bolts on the side closest to the firewall. I figure I might have to take the unit out to put in the spare, but G8d help me if I need to get to it.
#2 I was finally able to release the headlight unit on the driver's side. The push rod had worn away its retaining hole. When I removed the unit, I saw it is connected to a clip harness which is not repeated on the passenger's side. Any idea what it is or why there is only one? (pic attached).
