Welcome to Houston and its damn construction trucks with nothing to cover their gravel loads!
All my windshields were destroyed in my five years living there!
Hot, humid, polluted, flat and very boring... Made Abilene feel like paradise in the summer:-)

Made a similar trip in my wife's 2001 S500 a month ago. San Francisco to NYC (2920 miles) in four days, all alone all the time. I took a more northerly route: California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. It's amazing what a posted speed limit of 75 will do along with 300 hp, a V1, an i-pod, a very good A/C and a seat with a massage feature in the lumbar support. These cars were made to just eat up highway miles.

^^ Ours is a faux AMG - body kit and wheels but standard MB parts after that. But I have to admit I really enjoyed my self doing this. I'd done it numerous times before (college and the army) but never alone. I think everybody should do a coast to coast trip at least once!

Did coast to coast 5 times while I was in the Navy, from San Diego/San Fran. to Orlando. Unfortunately I didn't get to do it in a MB, back then I drove either a '67 Chevy 4 door, a Volvo 245 or a Volvo 242GT. The last trip, from SD to Orlando was when I got out of the Navy and was trying to get home in time for Thanksgiving. Coast to coast with less than 1 hr. sleep, I was a wreck when I got home. Oh to be young and foolish again.....not.

^^ This was my first trip in something as nice as an MB. First time was in '66 and last time was '72 - Chevy sedan, Chevy van and once in a Mini Cooper. That one was in '67 and took 40 hours from Columbus, GA to Santa Monica, CA with a couple of army buddies driving non-stop. Interstates were only partially completed in those days. I still remember that Texas took 18 hours to cross!

What? You never gonna come visit? Sheesh.

Cool trip Jason.
Love the sig pic. And I thought pulling into the driveway with our mini sitting next to the Cayenne was a scary sight.
I still want a 500... some day!
