Need your help guys.
First episode, I am at a traffic light, as I'm taking off, 993 loses power and stalls. Try to start and cranks but doesn't start. Sit down trying to find out what to do and tried to start once more 5 minutes later. It starts and never flinches again (like nothing ever happened).
Second episode, fast forward a full week later, take it for a 60 mile ride, runs beautifully (so well I'm already forgotten of what happened the week before). At the end of a ride, stop for a minute to pickup something at the store. Car won't start (cranks but doesn't start). Sit again for a couple of minutes, try again and comes back with no problem.
The car didn't really give me any warnings either time.
Any ideas what could be going on? Car is a '95 C2 with less than 23K, meticulously maintained.
Thanks.

I'm thinking DME relay or fuel pump or both. Start with the DME relay, they're cheap, DIY, and a pretty common point of failure. I've had symptoms similar to those you're describing and while the DME helped, my fuel pump was definitely on the way out and was replaced within the year.
BTW, love your 993's older brother!

Might not be related but wouldn't hurt to clean you ISV if you have not done so. I just cleaned mine yesterday and I can tell a difference at idle. This is a 30 minute DIY. There are lots of posts regarding this.

I fully agree with Dave, replace the DME first, then dig more. While cleaning the ISV is a good maintenance item, its not likely the culprit here.

+4 DME relay.
Funny, my $900 Bosch dishwasher had a similar relay issue. I'm not kidding... a little solder later and voila! it was all happy. Common denominator seems to be that the circuit board and solder can't handle much of a load.
Geez, you think Bosch would get all of these issues sorted out by now, since it is happening in so many products for so long. I have been dealing with the Porsche DME issue since 1987 and my first 911 Cabriolet.
