Default LED taillights?

Does anyone have any suggestions for vendors who sell LED light for the taillights, turn signals, license plat and front parking lights? Do you also know what size bulb I need for these?

Thanks

+1 for superbrightleds.com

I just did my 3rd brake light conversion to LED with their stuff.

I've always wanted to do LED brake lights. Are you going to make your own circuit board and housing for inside the brake light shell?

Thanks for the link. Yeah I know about the flasher issue so trying to decide whether it's worth the time and money to switch over to LEDs.

Geets, the car relies on incancescent bulb's resistance to figure out whether the bulb is burnt out or OK. LEDs do not have the resistance of the reilar bulbs, thus the car thinks the flashers are broken and does the "fast flash" when you use teh turn signal.

David,

Alan form ACE products is a sometimes active member on the TT board...

His co make snice stuff - and he was one of the original guys to start the LED process. He also makes these really nice OVAL side repeaters - that update the look of our cars so much -and look way better than the old VW square ones... reminds me - i need to contact him and see if he I can buy just one...

By the way, did anyone install a brighter LED into the interior dome light? The lighting in a cab is woefully inedequate.

I bought the brighter LED interior lights from Super Bright LEDs for my coupe. They are the 41mm long lights with the 6 LEDs. I got cool white to maximize brightness. They are much brighter. The light is very white/blue. Looks very cool when you unlock the car at night, but it might be a bit too "ricer" for most tastes. You may want to go with the warm white color.

Mike, I think the warm white is what I'll look for. Thanks!

Do you remember a specific light bulb model? And would it be the same for cabs and coupes? My light is up front near windshield frame in a little black enclosure that consistently falls out of its holder (really common issue).

Coupes are different. They have 2 lights that turn on and off by rocking the lens that are located above the side windows, right about your head.

I think the website I gave will list by application and they were very responsive. I tried to use Aceparts, but they were... less responsive.

I looks like they suggect 4410 bulb for teh dome light. However, those appear to have very narrow beam pattern: http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/festoon.htm

I't possible that 4210-6 would work: http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/festoonhp.htm
