Default For all the iPoders

Was surfing on another forum and saw this iPod connection solution for Porsche factory OEM headunits.

I searched all the previous iPod/Aux Input threads, this seems to be the newest connection solution.

http://www.solisto.de/en

From the website, it lists compatible Porsche factory OEM radios:

That's cool, I wonder how well it works, I notice it doesn't to ID tags, & is only good for 99 songs.

I picked up this for my TP & the only problem is I have to control the iPod from the ipod, the head unit just does volume

That was the same result I had in my Mini with a similar connection from the dealer.

But the cool thing is being able to control my iPod from my factory headunit.

Appears to be expensive.

But for those that have the CR210 headunit in their 993, beats having to buy a CDR220 headunit just to connect an iPod or keeping the CD changer plugged into the CR220 just to be able to "read" the connected iPod.

I don't get it. Most here change the ride height, suspension, wheels/tires, exhaust, add Euro kits, etc....
But insist on keeping the crappy outdated OEM stereo?

Because updating the stereo doesn't improve my lap times

Sure it does. You will eliminate the weight of all those CD's.

I like to keep the stock look of my car. And, as many will say, I really don't listen to it very often. Maybe when on a road trip on the freeway.

Most new head units look terrible in the 993.

Cool thing, I just read the manual and it actually supports 6x99songs. It's limited to simulate 6 CD's with 99 tracks. That's it for the CDR 210. If you have a model with 10 disc CD changer, it'll do 990songs.
I might look into this a bit more since I'll most likely keep the CDR 210 installed, just for the clean unmolested look.
You don't have to get the pro model, the "extra" version will be OK too with an I pod jack. It keeps the cost at 113 euros which is doable I think.
I'm not ready to buy it yet but my car is not running yet either. Maybe another 6 - 8 weeks.
If anybody has this system already, please let us know how it works.
Thanks,
Ed
