Mark,
This seems like it would solve one problem in my 95 cab with 95k on the clock. A B&M short shifter tightened things up a bunch, but this sounds like a better way to finish the job. Can you PM me a price please?

I'm interested too... And getting ready to travel on buisness for several weeks. Please PM me the price... If I decide to do it, I'll pull my rod this weekend.
You guys are doing great things!

I've had the new rod installed for about a week now, and have to say it is really nice. Shifting has a very mechanical feel and is definitely more precise. Also, I don't notice anymore noise or vibration. A nice upgrade.
PM's sent.

OK, after some work today, here is the latest with slight revisions/improvements. This is the final version we are sending to people... a couple going out this week.
For those who have their stock rods on the way, we are all set.
The improvements were:
- Slightly larger joint
- Utilizes the same shoulder bolt currently on the car
- To avoid a butt weld, there is a short piece of solid rod inside of the welded joint
- The dust boot over the joint is not stretched as it is with the actual RS rod
These just need to be cleaned up a bit before going out (cosmoline and such, need that Xenit!
).
Actually, one is already on a RLers car, I think he is driving home as I type.

Fantastic upgrade for the car - I noticed the difference immediately the moment I put the car in 1st gear..... much more direct, and none of that sloppiness with the original shift rod. Thanks Darin and Mark!

So this will combine with the other RS shifter bits just fine then, right? I know several were buying the RS parts EXCEPT the rod from Sunset for about $70...even they were charging $$$ for the rod.

Should be fine since the 993 RS rod carries a 964 part number.
Absolutely, since the forward end of the shift rod is not altered in any way.

I concur with Andreas...

However, I'd like to see pix of the stock 964 rod with dimensions, just to be safe. IIRC, PET has different part #s for the 964. I would bet those are minor design differences but it would be good to check.
If I have learned one thing through this, it is that the devil is in the details.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
