I have exactly the same problem, intermittent no start, powers up the dash, blowers, lights etc but will not crack and no clicking, leave it for 10-20 mins and it kicks in, temp makes no difference. I'm thinking starter solenoid, earth strap to battery or the ignition key.

Are we barking up the same tree?

For what it's worth, I checked my battery and the earth strap is good. Also, in my case, temp is an issue as I'm having no issues with cold starts.

Latest on the problem: Temp here today is about 80F (don't mean to gloat)

1. After driving about 5 mins, I parked and was back in the car after a couple of mins. Started no problem.

2. Drove another 5 or so minutes, parked and was back in the car after about 20 mins. Starter lurched once or twice then fired up.

3. Drove another 8 mins or so, parked and was back in the car about 10 mins later. Starter lurched twice then died. I tried starting again a couple times over the next few mins, but similar kind of result. In fact, it felt like the starter was wanting to try less the more that I was asking it to, so I didn't try for about another 8-10 mins. This time it lurched a bit again but then fired up. I drove home (another 10 mins) then tried starting the car again once it was in my driveway. This time it started no problem. I repeated the exercise 3 times over the next 20 mins and each time it started.

What's really confusing me is that it seemed to be at it's hottest by the time I got home, but yet it re-started without a problem when in my driveway!?!?!?

Sure sounds like the contacts or solenoid on the starter...I would have the battery checked first just in case, and then replace the starter.

If you can DIY, it will run $200-$300.

Cheers,

Mike

Update

Guys.
Fault was a missing nut on the solenoid(yellow cable). Seems when the clutch was fitted this was missed.
