Default WTB: 18" Technology Wheels

Hey guys,

New here. I'm looking to replace my stock 17" wheels w/ OEM 18" Twist/Technology wheels. If anyone has any, or knows where I can find some, please let me know. I'd rather not use a retailer like Wheel Enhancement, etc. unless I am forced too.

I have read the several threads on the correct fitment for my 96 993 C2, but I am still confused (I have also read up on Pelican parts). The local Porsche dealer tells me the correct p/n for the NB is front: 993.362.136.00 and rear: 993.362.140.00. I start to get fuzzy when you start talking about the offset (ET.....). Are there any other p/ns that work on my car besides the ones listed above? I see a lot of 996.xxx for sale on CL and other sites.

Any help is appreciated. Pics of your Twist wheels would be appreciated.

Did you want "Technology" or Turbo Twists?

Hollow Spoke “Technology” wheels:
993.362.136.00 - ET52 - 19.95 lb (front)
993.362.140.01 - ET65 - 23.36 lb (narrow body rear)

Solid Spoke Turbolook wheels:
993.362.136.01 - ET52 - 25.57 lb (front)
993.362.140.04 - ET65 - 29.32 lb (narrow body rear)

Good question...other than weight, I can't figure out the difference between the two. Is there a noticeable difference in appearance between the two? Which ones do you have in your avatar?

I'm about to post some 18" Sport Classic II's for sale which came off of my 993. They are the wheels shown on my avatar if your search expands beyond the Technology wheels you are looking for. These fit the NB 993. Good luck with your search.

No difference in appearance from the front, other than the Technologies have metal valve stems. On the back side, the Turbo Twists have two large/deep grooves on each spoke running radially while the Technology's spokes are smooth on the back and are hollow.

Technologies for NB are relatively rare and typically cost almost twice what twists cost on the used market. Twists weigh a ton.

Thanks Jimbo3. That clears up the technology vs. twist mystery. I've seen wheels off a 993 turbo FS with the same p/n, but the offsets are rear: 10Jx18 ET40 and front 8Jx18 ET52. Will these fit my NB? Jhale, thanks for the offer..will keep in mind.

Nope, that is WB rear fitment.

I ended up with the solid twists on my 95 NB C2 and I am very happy. The solids are heavier, but primarily for street use, they are also a little stronger.

The front wheels are the same between the WB and the NB. The WB rear wheels are a different p/n and a different wheel than the NB wheel due to the different offset requirements. WB rear wheels with a 40ET cannot be used on a NB. NB rear wheels (ET 65) may be used on the rear of a WB if 1" (25mm) spacers are used.

8" fronts are prefered, but 7.5" is more common and will do. 8" will carry up to a 235 tire while the 7.5" is maxxed at 225.

Perfect, thanks for the responses. 2 more questions and then I'm golden. 1. How will I know if ET number....is it stamped on the back of the wheel? 2. Will Twists off of a 996 work? I assume its the same p/n, except it starts w/ 996??

I have NB Technology Hollow spokes on my car and would like to sell them for a set MY02's. They have zero curb rash and are near prefect if anyone is interested.

Twists have the ET number stamped next to the part number on the back side.

996 twists look different than 993 twists and have completely different numbers, but are the same sizes and offset. IMO, 996 twists are not attractive.

To complicate it just a bit further, there were 7's and 9's made for Boxsters and the part #'s started with "993", but that's another kettle of fish.
