JC,
If you were closer, Neil (nsully) & I would replace it for you by simply removing the transmission. This saves a ton of time, cuts out the need for an alignment, and leaves all of the engine-related fluids and connections intact.

Road trip?

Jimmy-
Those were my symptoms too. But with your mileage I wouldn't discount clutch wear.

While you are driving at different speeds, 25 and 40, disengage clutch and pump it several times--see if the re-engagement feels more positive. Check your fluid level. And I was advised to flush annually.

Yes, flush annually. I found that even with annual flushes, most of the cars that I worked on have really discolored fluids. It could be from the connecting rubber hose, I am not sure, but that fluild gets way darker than the brakes, which share the same source.
