I wonder if you will get a better sound from the drilled cover or the wide open cover I have (Carbon Fiber cover from Fabspeed)?

After the excitement of getting the car has somewhat subsided, I took a closer look at the air box and discovered the PO cut away much of the side. It is sort of a modified cup box now. Thanks for all the input. Gosh this is a great place!

The size/#/qty of holes is completely arbitrary and meaningless. If I were doing it, I'd just cut the entire box open.

I tried everything from Fabspeed (cup) + K&N filter to stock + RS snorkel. I'll be darned if I could tell any difference in sound. Maybe due to my RSR mufflers, dunno. All sounds the same to me.

I did the mod using the template with the drill holes. It worked very well. Couldn't tell much of a difference until I was at WOT. Then holy cow.. the noise volume from the engine doubled. I really like the new sound with this mod(tiny holes) but I think it might be too loud with the large cut holes.

You could always buy a new Motorsound cover for ~$85 for the OEM look, including the chromed horn.

Also, do not use anything but the Porsche OEM paper element.
