Protomotive Stage 1 Twin Turbo Install DIY
#19
Great write up! This makes the TPC kit look easy. Fitment looks great. I really like that center muffler in place of the cats. Looking forward to Stage 2 writeup when you turn up the boost!

From my experience. The SC is great on the autox due to the torque curve and not so great on the track due to heat soak and inconsistency. The turbo is great on the track because of the efficiency and torque curve and not so great on the autox because of the lack of low end torque.
Remember when you blow up your motor and need to rebuild, the turbo kit is capable of over 500 hp while the SC kit is limited to upgrading a pulley for a max 6 psi and you have to use that hokey liquid intercooler.
I do miss the torque generated from the SC on the street, but I feel the car performs better on the track and lap times are more consistent without it. Oh and the car is 60 lbs lighter where is counts! The Proto TT kit always intrigued me and it is nice to see a fellow Rennlister take the plunge and go through the trial and tribulations tackling the install and tuning on his own. Great job, Eric! I'm glad to see everything work out.

I forgot to mention the weight difference. The entire kit including headers weighs 132 lbs, compared to 85 lbs for stock headers, cats, & mufflers. Thus, it adds 47 lbs versus stock. I ran sport cats & RSRs, so it actually added 70 lbs for me.
