do a search for posts by 'cowtown' he started on this project and had a working prototype, I asked him if it would be ok for me to have a copy of the schematics to take the project further but by the time I went to dl them they had been removed from the site :-(

If there is still interest and someone can send me the schematics etc I would like to try this.

Regards

Lee

I'd have an interest in one of the mod'ed modules, if there is a group buy that gets going.

I remember this from when I was following the thread back then. I think those schematics are long gone. Where would we look for new ones?

Interesting thread. I'd be up for a module that does 75 up and <5 down. I can't stand the up and down that inevitably happens when I get stuck in LA traffic, etc.. And it must look kinda ridiculous, and bling-like to the unknowing driver behind.. And just waiting for the motor to burn out.....

I'm tempted to get a RS spoiler (at least it has a somewhat subtle look to it) but worried about dynamics changing without front splitters or something; don't want to find out it's all wrong after spending the money

The best thing would be to try to contact Cowtown and ask him if he could make them available again...anyone have his email?

I just bought my car last November and I always thought the idea of it going up and down was kind of cool. Now I am starting to think that this should really bother me. Help!! LOL

I don't think its anything to worry about (having it go up and down all the time), I just dont like the way it looks when its up

This way the spoiler goes up/down only 2x a day. It has become part of my DD habit ...not to mention "saved" me 3 bills

Interesting thread. If we all agree that this mod is basically 99% cosmetic (1% being the wear and tear on the spoiler drive system) then in essence this is no different than the money many here pour into external "improvements" like euro lenses, chrome exhaust tips, wheels, turbo air ducts, etc. IMHO in the realm of things we do to make our cars fit our personal tastes $300 isn't a big ticket item and to some a higher priority than some of the mods others may see as more important. Different strokes for different folks.

I gotta ask this: If anyone observes the wing go up, it actually dips down at the final few mm of travel as if "locking" into place. Now the down force at 75 mph is obvioulsy much greater than at 45, thereby subjecting the wing to much greater force while in motion. What, if any harm may there by having a moving wing go up at the higher speed?

+1...It looks like someone mounted an elementary school lunchroom tray on the rear of the car. Paul Frere once sarcastically wrote that the reason Porsche built in the retractible function was so the owner couldn't ever see how ugly the car was with the spoiler deployed.

Just saw this thread - sorry to jump in late.
I have the Ruf module for the spoiler on my 993S and mine goes up at about 78(as someone else posted) but comes down at approx. 35. I think that's just about right.

Hadn't heard that one before but I have to agree. IMHO it just doesn't look good when deployed so I like not having it up unless it's serves a functional purpose..... which supposedly it does at about 80+ mph.
