Maybe I got the wrong info but they emailed me and I called them as well.

I have a Ruf module installed and it goes up at 78 and down at 12. Got it from Ruf in Dallas a couple of years ago.
Same here and I bought mine about 2 years ago too so maybe they've changed the specs. IMHO the spoiler going up at all at low speeds is stupid although I understand why it's necessary at high speeds for cooling. I have never have a cooling problem with the Ruf module so it's clear the early up is unnecessary, at least in my climate. I once followed a 993 in LA traffic for a fair number of miles and must have seen the spoiler go up and down about 50 times. It made me want to give the car some spoiler Viagra to put it out of it's misery.

Thanks for all this discussion. I'm going to call RUF Dallas next week and see if they still have the module. It's expensive but I hate that stupid wing going up and down when I'm just driving around town. My over over 75 driving tends to be limited to the expressway. I agree that manual would be the best solution but it doesn't sound like there is a practical solution for manual operation.

Let us know what they have to say.

Too bad someone couldn't design one that went up @ 80, down @ <5. Very little cycling and up only when the lift-cancelling starts to make any real difference.

We need all the help we can get with these old, underpowered clunkers!

RUF replied to my email today. The module is available. Price $399. Wonder what the group buy price was back in 2004?

yikes, 399! Guess it makes sense considering the source.

So......who wants to build one

Design one from scratch or reverse engineer a Ruf module?

Didn't want to post this up until I researched it more but in another thread about getting a climate control unit rebuilt I clicked on the companies link and saw they rebuilt spoiler control units so i shot em an email. This was the response...
Yes we can modify the spoiler control unit,
but it needs to be the early one usually in a gray
case. The cost to modify it is $115 plus shipping.

Thanks
Loren

I'd be down for one at that price. Can we customize our speeds? I'd like up at 70 down at 5. I would also want the console switch to work just as it does now.

Where is the module and how hard is it to remove/re-install?

Passenger side footwell - at the top. Unplug the old then plug and play.

At least with the Ruf unit the switch on the console works the same. I suspect others would be the same as well.

Nice work! How early is the "early one?"
