Default The color of your 993 determines your accident rate - I shoulda bought white! :o)

From an article in the Washington Post today... I guess our family members are safest in the back seat of our white 993's or daily driver cars.

"Walk Away from an Accident...

The uncomfortable hump in the backseat of your car (according to the Sunday Post Magazine today) is the spot no one wants to sit but experts say it's actually the safest for passengers (who knew? Not me). University of Buffalo researchers examined fatal auto crashes in the US between 2000-2003 when someone was riding in the middle seat. Factoring in variables including weather conditions and the age and type of vehicle, they found that the rear middle seat was 16% safer than any other place in the car. Overall, they discovered that riding in the back is 59% to 86% safer than riding in the front, and riding on the hump is 25% safer than riding in the rear window seats.

And for those people sitting in the driver's seat: If you're searching for the safest vehicle, you might want to avoid cars with dark paint colors. In a study of 17 years of auto crashes that resulted in death, injury or serious damage, Australian researchers found that white cars were less likely to be involved in accidents than those of any other color. Compared with white cars in daylight hours, black cars had a 12% higher crash risk: gray, 11%, silver 10%, blue and red, 7%. At dawn or dusk, black cars had a 47% higher crash risk than white cars; gray 25%, silver 15%."

Would a statistic like this make you think twice about a color choice on a future car? Like not buying a black car due to it's 47% higher crash risk at dawn and dusk?

For now, I'm happy with my silver and it's 10% higher crash rate during the day. Silver still rules in my book.

Default White wins again!

Woo Hoo!

White cars got the strongest engines at the factory and now science proves White cars have fewer wrecks - Q. E. D. - are better drivers.

Best wishes

If I pay attention to statistics of those nature, I'll spend my life worrying about dying rather than living.

*chuckle*
A few years ago, I read an article sourced from the Australian insurance industry
They stated yellow was least likely....followed by silver !!!!

I have always felt dark green / dark grey was the most dangerous....it is bitumin coloured.....and blends with a quick glance.

I was surprised how bad red was when I had my Ferrari.
There are more colourblind people out there than I realised.....
[see red as grey]

ANY one, in ANY colour car is at risk if they are near Barney !!!!
........because everyone will be looking at Barney's car ....not the rd !

Its because everyone is always on the lookout for police cars. I know I pick out white first in a group of cars.

I can confirm that old ladies that pull out the wrong way down the road do not see black 993's

Wow ..news to me ..we have had a few white cars but difficult to keep clean

did any one check that Most Aussies buy white as it reflects the sun better and keeps the car cooler inside ...or its just a cheaper option on the paint ...

When I go out into the country on a "spirited drive" as I did this morning at 6:30am ..I always put my headlights on even though its bright sunshine

we all know Black 993 are quicker ..lol
