Nice looking car, very clean -- however, I dont buy the reason for TMU status. The odo doenst get replaced with the install of the carbon dash.

+1 on the odo. That issue is CarFaxed, but Carfax data is not always that revealing...still a beauty no matter what the ODO says...

Why are there so many stories on Ebay? WTF is with the crazy explanations out there? "Looks like a Ferrari but it is built on a 1985 Ford Fairmont frame". I'm sure that they have a receipt for a carbon fibre dash install but no mention of a new speedo. And how would Carfax know that a carbon dash was installed resulting in a mileage change? Crazy, crazy, crazy.

I look at that auction the other day. Why would somebody selling a car like that write up the specifics as though they were writing for a 5th grade show and tell class? "He puts Lexol on the seats bi-monthly while running the heat to help soak it in." And then they describe what a "detailing" is.....

There's so much fluff in the description. The "mechanic" doesn't even list it as a C4S. I looked up the business and they are known as a BMW shop even though the auction says they are an independent Porsche/Audi shop(?) Lots of the photos are just repeats of the same, and so really don't show much. And there's no list of factory options, etc..

I'm sure it's a nice car, but the auction is written really oddly.

Looks nice, but with such an elaborate description, I would want to see pics of the engine bay, the wheel wells, and the underside.

Also, describing a used car as the best on the planet, possibly in the solar system, usually sends up red flags for me...

I dont think I have ever seen that car here in Boulder. There are not that many of them around here, so you tend to notice them when they are out. Looks very nice.

If people are seriously interested I can go and check the car out if needed.

If the info on the odometer is true, then that was on costly upgrade! That one decrepancy had to of depreciated the car by at least $5k.

CarFax "odometer discrepancy" is a killer.

WOW, spends all that time with the write up, but then no pics of the CF dash, as Anders said, no engine bay or trunk shots.

Nice car, worth $45k, even with the ODO thing. I bet the dealership, dropped the original one & broke it. Then charged him for a new one.

Looks like they upgraded to aluminum face gauges.

Agree with all the above comments. Again, why spend all that time describing detailing but have very little description of the car and it's options? "best on the planet except for a, b, c......"

I don't agree about the "killer issue" of the Carfax regarding odo, and I do agree that the descrption is a bit over the top in some areas, but I am amazed at the distrust level of the comments. CarFax reports are about 60% correct and mostly useless anyway. A good PPI by a trained and trusted Porsche mechanic is the best indicator of the car's condition. 14,000 miles...why the heck would anyone care even if it had 44,000 miles if the car is in great shape mechanically looks as good as this one? Elaborate descriptions are what sellers do on eBay, it is too bad they did not get a qualified photographer to take the necessary pictures.

I'm wondering how anyone ever buys a used Porsche if they expect perfection and totally distrusts the owner or seller of one of these beautiful cars. When we buy 12-14 year old 993s we have to expect some issues here and there and we then try and live with them or upgrade to suit our tastes.

I'm not asking anyone to bid on this car or trying to sell it for the guy, it is just amazing how some owners take care of their Porsches and this car seems to be an example of a pristine 993 with low milage.... I would still love to be the lucky person to own it.

I too am attempting to be a little more trusting and positive in 2009, I guess I'll start tomorrow...

the ODO thing is a little odd... When I imported my RS cars I bought used ODO's sent them out and had them re-run to the exact miles... How hard would that have been to do...But on the other hand, why would a guy drive a car like that with an ODO that says zero miles...Maybe he figured he would drive it more and by the time he sold it it would only have 10K or so on the clock....

Still looks like a nice car... ODO issue is worth at least $10K in my book...

If the miles are unknown, how can one be sure that $45,000 is a good deal? What if it actually has another 50,000 miles on it? The odo discrepancy is a big deal, IMO.
