Starting Problem
Hello,
Been away and car has been garaged and not driven for 6 months. Good cranking on well charged battery and plenty of gas. No start.
Ideas?
Thank you!
Bob

Thanks for the idea Chris. I tried that first with no luck.
(If you've seen the DIY pics that have been around for years on the net on the DME replacement, that was my post to Robin's site a long time ago.)

Ahh, I see.
No imobilizer on the 1995 car, however some late builds had this, does yours?
Do you smell fuel after cranking for some time?

BTW, I did use Adrian's idea of removing oil when storing the car and adding some back before try to start.

You can bypass the DME relay to check for fuel pump 'humming'. Wonder if the fuel pump is stuck?
Otherwise, you can remove a fuel line to check for flow.
This may sound silly, years ago I had an 911 SC. I went to Austria for two weeks but before leaving, I pulled the coil wire, a poor mans alarm Anyhow, I got back and went to start the car. ****, it just kept cranking. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks... Any chance?

I don't hear it, Chris... the car has to be cranking for it to be energized if I remember correctly? And definitely don't hear it when cranking and listening up front. I don't have a way to get access to the pump to put a hand on it unfortunately.

Harry... battery has been on bat tender the entire time and I've run it down and charged it a couple of times in this process. My charger also has a "start engine" mode which I've tried with no luck. Does that still sound like battery?
With bat fully charged it turns the motor just fine.
Thanks!

Chris,
Would pulling the dme relay and jumping between pin 30 and 37 (3 and 7 on CES) do the trick?
Trouble is I don't have access to anything but a piece of wire to do the jump...no ent caps or fuse-protection on the jump wire. Thinking maybe that may not be a smart idea given what I've got to use.
What do you and others think?
On my other car I'd just juse a paper clip!
update: just looked at doing this...forget it. Unless there is a way to do it at the DME/fuel pump relay the procedure I suggested is a no go.

Henry... the DME relay is a DME/FUEL relay on the 95 and I've tried a new one of those already. Also checked the fuelpump fuse and it's okay.
