Default Rotors B Stuck

Well folks its time for me to change my front brake pads and I can't get the darn rotors off. I'm using BP Blaster, gear pullers and a hammer trying to set that thing free. Rust, heat and over 80K miles since the last replacement are probably the main causes. Please provide your tips and suggestions.

Thanks,

Ken

hmm... no need to remove the rotors to change the pads.

little screws removed, right?
Usually a good whack with a mallet will free it up...

sorry if you know all of this and have already tried.

hit it with a mallet, on the rotor edge, then in front & back.

Ken,
If you're replacing the rotors, feel free to wail on them with a hammer. If just pads, the rotors stay in place.

Thanks folks, executed as instructed. Banged, whaled and everything else to get those blasted things off. I had some light scoring on the rotors and pads almost down to the metal. Guess I got my $$$'s worth. After I finish that, I will change the steering rack’s, front and rear sway bar bushings. That should keep me busy for a while.

Thanks again guys (and girls for those politically-correct sensitive),

The rotors on my 964 have 2 extra threaded holes on each. I can't remember what size bolt goes in there, but I found if I put a bolt in both holes and screwed them in evenly, the rotors popped off with no fuss. I can't remember if the 993 rotors have the same.

Yes the threaded holes in the rotors are there to prevent this problem. The thread is 10mm from memory. Just wind in a couple of M13 bolts, as you tighten them they will push the rotor from the hub. No banging / heating required.

^^^ +1 What they said. I just went through this a couple weeks ago. Sprayed, soaked, banged, to no avail. Then found the extra screw holes and they popped right off. I thought they were M8 though?
