After nearly 2 years, 150 posts and 6,000 views, this thread has definitely has served it's purpose and has longed since "jumped the shark".
With all due respect to the OP and everyone who's posted, which includes myself, am I the only one who wishes this thread would go away? Its like the houseguest that won't leave!
Again, no offense to anyone. I've never used this emoticon on a thread before, but it was created for threads like this:

This is a 993 board, specifically for air-cooled 993s. I would imagine most on here have an interest in all things 993.
I understand others have an interest in the Speedster. As I said, it's my opinion, and only my opinion, that this OT thread has served it's purpose, as many of the posts have strayed from the original subject and/or provided little new information.
As you may or may not know, when one adds to a thread, it bumps it to the top. Personally, I enjoy reading new posts that may offer relevant information about the 993 on the 993 board. Seeing a 2 year old OT thread, for me, is less interesting. As I said, after nearly 2 years, it's had it's OT moment in the sun.
Usually OT threads do their thing, and then move on. Also, sometimes, though may be not the case here, 2 year old threads sometimes have erroneous or out-dated information.
In any event, I didn't mean to get you so angry. Seeing a 2 year old OT post at the top of the 993 board, for me, is like seeing a re-run of a show that's not even supposed to be on this channel. That's all.

Again, like I said before, if you're bored with a thread, then don't open it. Obviously, you have as much interest in this thread and respect for it's subject and participants as I do for your opinions on it. If you really can't see why posting this kind of opinion about a thread and the people who continue to show an interest in it is offensive, especially on this board, then have at it and good luck with that.

Man, I just couldn't wait to post here again for some reason ..
Here's some new shots that appear in an Edmunds article/road test by Andrew Frankel showing the clamshell/top mechanism (really different than the previous designs) and the car at speed with the top up. Enjoy!
Here's a keeper ...

JP-- Great internet sleuthing That clamshell shot in motion's a rarity, & I luv the 'famiy shot' due to the aircooleds' inclusion.
Related AutoExpress.co.UK first drive:
"We hit the road in the most exclusive 911 of them all, the limited-edition Speedster."
If you like your 911s low, wide and topless then the new 997 Speedster is your dream come true, a convertible 911 like no other.

World & U.S. debuts
Tim-- Road trip!
Make another trek down to SoCal, & you can see one in person very soon at the L.A. Auto Show.
Nov 17, Porsche's scheduled to make their world debut of an unidentified mid-engine sports car.
It will be flanked by the US debut of the 997 Speedster & GTS, recently off the floor at the Paris Motor Show.
