Default Deleting the SAI System from my OBD-1 993 - Need Plugs

Hoping someone can help me source plugs to fill the holes where the SAI lines meet the exhaust ports. I need two plugs (size 16mm x 1.5). Does anyone know if Porsche sells these (presumably for Euro cars)? Part number?

TIA

I thought the system was self-sealing?

You should be able to source these plugs at a good metric fastener store. SF and Seattle should both have these...

BTW, you are talking to where the SAI lines attach to the the cam carrier, right?

Cheers

Yep, thanks Mike. BTW, your website has been an invaluable source of engine pictures which are helping me along.

Thank you.

Are you sure about that size? I thought somebody once posted that these are some odd metric pipe size. Could you post what you come up with?

I Don’t believe its a standard fitting, rather its a pipe flare fitting... After trying as many flare plugs as I could get my hands on, I surmised it was a metric fitting and hard to find on this side of the pond. So I just crimped and welded the tube shut about 1 inch above the nut.

Here is what you are looking for though.... too bad I found it after I completed mine...

no affiliation etc...

I used the stock fitting and I cut the line (I wasn't going to ever use them again) 1 inch up from the fitting then I had the aluminum line tig welded shut. It cost me$ 5 and I new they fit perfect since they were a oem fitting.

Thanks everyone. Jeff, I think I'll go with the Patrick Motorsports kit seems like an easy solution for $14Eric, I'll be doing a complete write-up on the conversion over the x-mas holiday - assuming I don't screw anything up Glad to see that many of you have done this sucessfully. Even though the car is a 95 and OBD-1, I was slightly concerned that the deletion of the SAI might throw a CEL light.

Glad to be getting rid of the system.

Joe,
I presume you are pulling the pump as well?

No, it definitely doesn't throw a CEL. I removed my air pump, but left all the piping, since it surely doesn't weigh anything. I figured it wasn't even worth the hassle to remove it all, so I just put a plug on the SAI check valve.

Just remember, when you remove the air pump, you have to put the screws back in (you may need shorter screws, i can't recall). These screws hold down a cover plate over the oil galley, so you'll leak oil if you don't put the screws back.

Thanks Eric. I did exactly that.

Andreas, yes, I pulled the entire system. The piping on the passenger side of the car was a bit of a challenge to move (I had to temporarily lift the nearest injector to get a wrench on the pipe fitting), however, I didn't want to risk having anything interfere with the v-ram. It's a cleaner look this way too.

Mike, I'd be honored to have you post my write-up on your site when it's ready.

Yep, the SAI system connects to the ports that clog. On the 96-98 cars with OBD-2, this throws a CEL.
