Default Anybody use these rain gutter inserts?

RUF has them, as well as Automotion.

http://www.automotion.com/productpag...1&cid=2&sid=47

Function? Slightly reduced wind noise (better to hear the exhaust), paint protection, slight aero advantage? Only disadvantage is $200 less in my pocket. This is not first on my priority list certainly, but seems like a decent mod I have never seen anyone have, yet people spend a lot on rain gutter deletes.

Thoughts?

I am sure they are functional, but I would guess they only are significant at relatiively high speed.

Hi Bart,

Indeed, they DO work, albeit for higher speeds as they were developed by the factory during the 935 days. I've used them on all my race cars since 1979 and even have a pair of the original 935 items on my street car.

Their main function is to reduce drag around that critical A-pillar and help reduce turbulence at the rear spoiler. On a street car, it results is a little less wind noise at highway speeds. They were worth 7 MPH at Daytona,....

I have the RUF ones, 3% less drag claimed

http://www.ruf-automobile.de/content...hp&details=166

Painted in the color of the car, good fit, havent really noticed the drag drop though

Mine are mounted with tape so the installation is easily reversible.

I have them on my C4S, there nice, & there is reduced noise. Mine are stuck there with 3M double sided auto tape.

On down the road, I might do some of these, although they would likely be color matched and mouted with tape.

I wish I could put these on the car for racing. At faster tracks like VIR and Watkins Glen, they would make a difference.

I had mine installed by RUF/DE. No screws were used, so no "drilling required".

Not applicable to a Targa.
I always knew the Targa was faster than a Coupe

Interesting, never seen these before for the 993. They are pretty stealth on Stealth's car. Not my style either, but color matched and taped would be the way to go.

I have only seen these once before, Zender made them years ago for the VW Rabbit / GTI.

My RUF came with them... pretty stealthy. Brian, I will show you next time I see you.

I have them on my BTR as well. PO claimed that with these and the aero-mirror, he raised his top speed from 192 MPH to 196 MPH. At that kind of speed, it is a huge gain, if true.
