Default Targa roof rack

Hi all,

New member to the 993 family as of yesterday. '97 Silver Targa. Wicked happy.

Question for all which I'm sure has been posed in the past:

Has anyone seen a solution for a roof rack to fit the Targa? I've seen the RTS, but as far as I am aware, there isn't one for the Targa. I've also seen one for earlier Targas ( http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1112806499.jpg ) but clearly this wont fit the 993.

Any help from anyone?

P.S. Any suggestions on a good experience for a newbie car seat much appreciated too.

mrmule:

Welcome, 1st and foremost you need to post a picture of your car which is required by all new users/members. Other than that I do not have any help to give on your question. Wecome again and enjoy the slippery slope we will lead you down.

The factory makes/made one, I don't know how much something like that would be though.

I would imagine close to 75 million dollars or somewhere around there, but if you order from Sunset it would probably only be 32 million.

Congrats on the car, pictures please

Congrats on the car!

A rack? Seriously?

Amfab's right. Which costs more a targa rack or sport seats?

BTW: Here's my Targa roof rack solution (6 bikes and 5 passengers)>

Welcome aboard. As mentioned, we need to see some pictures.

I have never thought of a roof rack, but I also have a truck.

Porsche says the maximum load on the rack is 75kg
I knew I had a picture of it somewhere, it is pretty low resolution, but here it is:

If you can still get it, which you may, it will probably have a list price of around $800-850. With Sunset's discount, it should be under $600 or so.

Definitely give Sunset a call if you are interested. Sometimes they can find things (Porsche parts) that no one else can!

Good luck!

Congrats.
BTW, are you from Massachusetts by any chance?
The use of the word 'Wicked' or 'Wicked Pisser' is a Northeast thing I'm told.

How is this for a piece of luck for you, if it's the right item? The rest of you vultures, give the new guy first crack.

Make note: The Craigslist rack says it is good for either a Targa or Cab so it can't be the factory Targa rack. I'm guessing it's an aftermarket rear decklid rack.

Default 993 targa roof rack

Hi,

After much searching I did find a rack for my targa on eBay in Germany about 2 years ago. I tried through many Porsche places in Europe and Asia and also the central parts in Germany without success.

Let me know if you are still looking for one and I can so some looking over here. (Too bad, I did have two lined up at one time but only bought the one for me.)

The picture shown in another post is the correct one. The rack actually goes on just like a regular rack (hard to believe I know).
