How far do you drive to get your car repaired and serviced?

A good mechanic is hard to find and in my experience, if you are loyal to them, they will return the favour. My mechanic is about a 45 minute drive away. It is a pain as I have to drag somebody out with me twice; once for the drop off and once for the pick up. I live in Canada and we have CAA here which is like AAA in the US. I pay an annual fee and they will tow my car upto 120 miles 4 times a year. When my car breaks, I have them tow it to my mechanic to save me one trip. It does, however, suck when you just need an oil change.

In the US I was driving 100+ miles each way. There were plenty of places nearer, but it gave me a lot of peace of mind. Thats worth the trip.
In the UK, I now drive about 7 miles to a very good specialist. Air-cooled cars are plentiful in London so there are a good selection of indies.
