I have a blue top on arctic silver and will be looking at going black with the replacement.

Stay with the black. It will look nicer much longer.

if you do go with a lighter color, be sure to use a protectant... Ragg Top makes a good one. Really helps the material repel dirt/stains (& bird poop!).
Actually, I'd put it on any color but it is more important with the light colors.

I bought some to put on my top and it promptly developed 2, near pencil-sized holes in the usual places, so I've just saved it.

Go with black and find a boot cover in the color you like. I saw a tan leather boot cover up for sale but I can't remember where (age related I think). But how much driving do you do with the top up?

One of those compliments came from me on Saturday. The grey is much more rich than shown in the photos and is the best choice on Arena. For GR, black may be the best, but that red sure is dashing. A tan top is like white...shows too much dirt, IMO.

Update... the recommended upholstery shop ordered a black one last week. Should be in Wednesday and installed by EOW.

Good luck with the install! The black will show the least wear I think over time.

Red over red is a very unique and outstanding way to go. However, This combination may only looks good with black interior.

I'm changing at the moment my break caliper to yellow on my triple black CAB after I got black MY02 rims. I also get a lot of comments from "now way to do this way" too "will look great".

In the end of the days it is your personal choice.

Patrick,
I'll be in Little Rock on the 22nd for AutoX at War Memorial. If you have time stop by. I'd like to see the top job. I'll be in the market for a new one soon. Good idea to stay with the black. Every car I've seen with a tan top has black marks eventually.

That's what I was thinking too. I think it'd look great at first, and after a bit of use, would really look horrible. Drop it off tomorrow, so we'll see.

I'll put that on my calendar to see if I can make it out! I wonder if Benoit is going.

Brew Pup get-togethers are NEVER OT in my opinion. Anytime you're this way, let me know and I'll see if I can get clearance. I check in here most everyday and will PM you my direct contact info.

After I posted my original comment about my new top I discovered the rear window (plastic) has a zipper around it! This is great! I loved that feature in my '88 cab when the weather was too hot to put the top down but I didn't want to use the A/C, just zip open the rear window for fantastic flow-thru-ventilation. The replacement top is a gahh and when I researched their tops on their web site I never saw any mention of the rear window zipper. The previous top did not have a zipper, no idea if it was original or not (kinda doubt it).

Zipper! Great idea! Does it go all the was around so you could take the plastic window out for cleaning or future replacement? How does the outside look? Got any pics you could post?
I'll be replacing my top in the future and would like this option.
