Default Red cab... top color?

My cab is in need of a new top sooner rather than later and the black makes sense overall since it doesn't show marks, scuffs and such very much. However, I was thinking about something a little different. I don't think the matching red top is for me, but was considering putting a tan/cashmere top on it to match the interior and boot cover.

I don't think I've seen a red 993 with a tan top now that I think about it. Does anyone here have pics of one?

On the downside, I know the tan would show more black marks and such from folding down, rubbing, etc., but I'm thinking it would look nice if I can keep it clean.

Go with Cocoa. It will go nice with the tan interior too. And is a standard Porsche color.

Patrick:

I can't remember the member's name, but he has a red cab with a red top. Not a look for everyone, but on his car I really think it looks great. He lives in Canada. I am sure as the day progresses someone wil chime in on who it is. It does look different, but in a good way.

I'm a fan of classic black. Most aggressive.

I've seen the red one and not sure it's me. The Cocoa would be what I'd consider... just haven't seen one.

I have a gray top right now and I am planning to replace it with a black one.

Cocoa looks almost black. A very dark chocolate brown. You'd be hard-pressed to see the difference in a photo.

Go to your local dealership, and look through the showroom & lot.

Porsche is now using a red top on the Boxster RS60. Looks great with the GT Silver paint. Not too sure it would look good on a red Porsche.

You rang? LOL. Agreed not a look for everyone indeed. I love the red top, it really makes the car and I get a ton of compliments every time I take her out for a spin. I'm not sure about the tan top, but the chocolate would be nice but at the end of the day its up to you what you fancy. Right before I put the red top on, the comments I was getting were that it would be too much for the car, it would not look good etc. Well the results speak for themselves

I had a Silver cab w/ a cocoa top. I didn't like it on silver, but am sure it would look much better on a red car. Here's a pic. Maybe you could photoshop it onto a red cab. I have other angles if you need them.

I am not sure about the mix of cocoa with the tan interior and tan boot cover. Actually, I have never seen a tan boot cover.
I think a tan top could be nice, but perhaps you can have someone photoshop one on your car first. I am partial to the classic black top though

the tan boot cover is very nice... it's full leather and really looks good w/ the top down. I've gotten several comments on it. I can't find a pic of it from the side at this time, but here's one from the rear...

I have a grey top and I have gotten positive feedback about it. There are pics from the shop before I picked it up. I like it.

I just had a new top put on my '97 and I talked to the shop about going with a different color than the orig. black (on gray interior). They STRONGLY recommended staying with the black as it would look newer longer and not show dirt nearly as much as the other colors. I stayed with the black (from Gahh). JM .02.

that's exactly why I was thinking staying w/ black would be better. I think the lighter color would look nice initially, but a few years later, I'm afraid it will show the age more.

Decisions, decisions.
