For 10K USD in my opinion the windows have to be build out of the car to get a serious painting in the critical

Exactly !!!
My heart skipped a beat when I saw the pictures yesterday.
It takes half an hour to remove the Rear and front side windows black rails. I will be damned. I intended to do a DIY how to prepare a 993 for total respray and never found the time.
If the car is still there, do it do it.

The side windows were removed and the seal on the rear glass was also removed. The tape you see there is just during the sanding. Trust me, no corners were cut on this car (or mine, which should be coming out of the shop today or tomorrow).

Good one, "particular"!!

It sounds like the finished product was excellent, especially if you are happy with it, that's great!

Now of course the big question : Are you going to drive it again, or take it on that long of a trip again?

I am very curious to see how the protective film works out. I have the 3M products on my wheel wells etc , but not on the nose.

As always, excellent job and outcome!

Cheers,

Mike

Mike, my whole front end is covered, most of it is single sheet, so no lines.

Was the front and rear window in place and only the outer seal were strip out or were teh front and rear window cut out of the car and put back after painting?

If the were always in position, the most important places didn´t get paint!

My car looks fantastic, no rust, perfect paint, etc.!
I did a sunroof delete conversion and was shocked to see that ther was a lot of rust after cutting out the windows!

For perfect work, all windows have to be cut out!

Greetings Christian

After spending so much time, energy, and money, I'd be really paranoid driving it that first month back!

Great job. You look so happy in that past picture of yourself... it's such a great shot capturing the joy of it all.

Hi Dennis
Your car looks great. I was looking at a possible nose re-spray on mine.
Your giving me inspiration to get it done.
Thanks

Not necessarily. As I understand it that's only true if the windows had already been cut out before. If so then the protecting paint and possibly galvanization would have been compromised in the past and you might have rust to clean out. However, if you have original paint, original seals and good fitment then by cutting out the windows you are running the risk of introducing rust in the future, as well as bad fitment, leaks and creaks. At least that's the way it was explained to me.

Looks great Christian . Roughly how much did the conversion set you back moneywise?

Sorry for the OT
