Talking Rebirth of the Aventurine Pig!

Some of you may recall my recent thread where I wrecked my 993: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/441895-help-i-smashed-my-993-a.html

As sad a day as that was, it gave me a chance to get a few upgrades I may not have ever done. Painful wait in getting it back, but it finally got finished.

Mods done: Euro bumpers F&R, front liscence plate mounts shaved, euro turns, OEM Turbo S ducts, basket handle delete, painted engine grill, repainted hood, MY02s, PZero Rossos, RennLine kit and Odyssey 925...

We replaced everything that was damaged with OEM parts; rivets, screws and all. Got a new oil cooler, AC condenser, support brackets, heat shielding, etc.

As you can see it still has US ride height, but you also see a few pics of some other soon to be add ons: Bilstein HDs, H&Rs, OEM RS strut brace, B-K harness bar.

All will be well soon!

Thanks to my local body shop, Steve Weiner, Sunset Imports, and RL members who sold me a couple of these parts.

Apologies for my camera - a small Sony 1.3 MP from about 10 years ago!

Think I should try to restick my black Carrera emblem on the engine lid? Buy a new one? Paint it silver?

Bart. Crazy how "clean" that car looks with the bumperettes, holes, etc gone. It looks fantastic.

Love the pig (but admittedly don't get it)

I kinda like the 'emblem delete' look. It goes nicely with the other mods. Crisp and clean with no caffeine.

That's a really pretty car. I love the color.

I agree, emblem delete, it goes with the smooth look.
Love the MY02's and aventurine.
(but I don't get the pig either)...

I also love that clean, well manicured look... Makes me think about talking to Eurotech about a basket handle delete....

I learned a couple of interesting things about aventurine through this adventure:

1. Aventurine is actually a stone. Pretty similar in color to my car and, also similarly, changes depending on lighting conditions. And as we all know, Porsches are referred to as "pigs" or "porkers" (I never really understood why, but they are). So, my little mascot is actually a pig made from aventurine! Reference these articles for more reading:

- http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=porker (#7, best I found)

2. The paint makeup of aventurine contains no green! Blue, black, 2 white pearlescents, maybe something else. Explains why it changes so.
