Default PPI at RECTOR PORSCHE in burlingame

all,

well i have great news..as i posted last night, my car had it's PPI at RECTOR PORSCHE in burlingame ca. when the compression test came back for the 1995 993 i am purchasing in SF, cylinder#4 was 160 and all others were 195-200

since the car has not been driven much in the past few months, the obvious problem was thought to be carbon deposit on valve so today the owner of the car added techron to fuel and drove the heck out of it for 100 miles and then brought the car back to rector for new readings...

cylinder #4 tested at 195 and another reading were done on #5 again which showed the same result as yesterday which was 195.

i am extremely happy with the PPI and wanted to mention that paul medina the service manager at RECTOR PORSCHE did an outstanding job and took great care of me....they were meticulous in their inspection, took time in explaining results and were so willing to acomodate my schedule to pick up the car and drive it home sept. 10th.

anyone needing a PPI or service work would be smart to use RECTOR porsche...what a great shop!

i can't tell you how thrilled i am to have a 993 in my grips again!!

regards,
william ceriale (seattle)

Congrats! Make sure you drive the heck out of it to prevent this dirty carbon deposit from coming back

Congratulations! Looks like you're partial to polar silver. Hope that everything goes well when you pick up the car.... and don't forget to post pics then.

William, what car did you buy and how did you find it? I LIVE in SF and I haven't been able to find one I like yet!

With the other 5 cylinders so high, I knew there was something simple going on with #4.

Sounds like an ad for Chevron Techron EFI cleaner! I use the little black bottle religiously before most CA smog checks on different cars. Always pass.

Default patela....i searched high and low on craigslist

in both the bay area and los angeles area...

currently there is a 1995 polar silver/black on craigslist for $29K...here is the link:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/810615654.html

it has a european front bumper with 78K miles...PSS9 suspension...6 speed...owner is sick and brother is selling...looks like a nice car but clutch is original and it has a small ding in passengers fender...owner explained it could be removed by dent puller guy.

also check the front bumper color match as it is hard to tell in the photo how well a job they did...

sounds like the car has been well serviced too

anyway it is still listed in the SF craigslist postings

good luck

william

ah but not always such a happy ending...
My black car is evidence of that. Motor is out right now for a load of stuff including "refreshing" the heads.

I don't have the heads off yet but apparent exhaust valve or seat issue.
I did a leakdown, tried techron, did leakdown, prayed, did a leakdown, cried...
I am going to 100psi to it one more time before I take them off... just for fun. Hey, you never know!

really glad for William. And after what he's been through physically, he needed a win

btw, you'd pass smog without the black bottle... these motors are usually well within required specs.

With LPMM, that sounds like a 'lister's car, wonder who? Patela- I'm not sure where you are, but Tom F's car in Seattle is very similar and might still be available. Shouldn't be as loud and you won't need to lose the 17" Boxster twists, either:

Thanks for the suggestions on available cars guys.

As William knows, I'm looking for a c4 (I was too late to buy his old one) which seem to be of some dearth in the area, if not generally. FWIW, I've been looking at CL throughout the country, and considered a few cars that have all ended up to have significant potential issues. If anyone is aware of a Blue/Grey/Silver/Green/Black c4 (1992-1995) in the mid to upper twenties range, with good mechanics (far more important to me than cosmetics), let me know.

The search continues...
