Why does it always feel so rewarding to get a car to pass smog? Every car I have smogged always seems like a huge ordeal to complete. Sheesh.
Since NONE of my readiness codes were set, a huge shout out to Hergesheimers for helping me get them set. We drove around for a little over an hour today with the PST2 plugged in to monitor exactly when these codes were set, two times.
Thanks Laura, Mark and Jim for your time today (and yesterday
)!!!!Jackass at the smog place, after me telling him to NOT use the rollers since the car is AWD, did start the test on the rollers. I ran out into the shop stopping him. This guy tells me they HAVE to check the awd function to see if the test can be performed on the rollers. After some 'talking to him' and after me telling him call around to see what happens when using the rollers, he gave in and did the test statically. Too much stress just to get a car to pass smog.
Then off the DMV for the visual inspection. Young cutie looks at the VIN, door jamb decal then asks me to open the trunk (hood). I did and ask her what she is looking for. She says, the engine. Ha! I showed her where it was located. All is well, I got plates and stickers!! Woohoooooo!!
Thanks Laura and company!!
Sounds like a lot of fun with the smog station. The guy that did mine was at least smart enough to enter the right vehicle and NOT put it on the rolling road.
So, what is the appropriate Smog Cert. gift?
I have an intermittent CEL that has thankfully gone off just when I need to get my emissions test here in GA.

If you must post pics (of the car), Chris, the fire-breathing exhaust is (was) the best shot you'll ever have of that car.
Bring that rig up to Torrance Brewery on Friday!

I had a similar experience at the local DEQ (smog testers). They asked me to pop the hood so I indulged them. After staring at the trunk for a moment, they asked me where the engine was and I leaped out of the car looking forlornly at the spare tire well while exclaiming that it was there just a moment ago as that how I drove in.
The looks on their faces was just priceless,...
