Unhappy What happened to my car?

Check out the photos... how did THAT happen? What do I need to order? Is it easy to replace? Might something else be wrong? Is it driveable?

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Normal, easy to replace. Someone else can post the part number.

Do a search on Heater Duct or Air Duct. It's a pretty common issue. The Heat from the engine bakes the rubber and it gets old. Remember the car is 10yrs old. I replaced mine last year. Samething happened to me. 5-10min fix

Replaced mine last year. 3 bolts hold it in place. You should be able to find the part on Pelican. Here's the part number:

993-106-403-00

Good luck!

Just replaced one...very easy swap. It seems to be normal on our cars as they age.

There are 2 possible part numbers, 964 106 403 02 for the early cars, and 993 106 403 00 for the later cars which should include yours. As previously stated, very easy to do, and about $45 for the part. I would make a temporary patch and watch the temp very closely if you have to drive.

I had one come apart too... it's just something that gets brittle with age and heat cycles.

My car failed smog 2 weeks ago because the guy looked in the engine compartment saw the same thing on my air duct and thought it was part of the SAI. I ran down to the Porsche dealer, did the install in the parking lot and returned to pass the smog test.

Probably caused by your using Brad Penn oil.
I use Mobil 1 and never had this problem!

This is one of those things you see every so often in Rennlist, and you think, "This will never happen to me." Well, it happened to me about a month ago. While the part was on order, I covered the hole with gaffers tape. I could have used duct tape, but gaffers tape is cooler.
