Yeah, the duct tape worked as a patch. The install took me an hour though because the PS bolt (1 of 3) was blocked by the adjacent alternator connection. I had to undo that get at the bolt and it wasn't easy to re-secure. Kind of a PITA for me.

Also, what am I supposed to do with the extra parts?

Yes, the right-most bolt is just about touching a bolt on the A/C. Fortunately, the bold needn't come out, only loostened a few turns and the part being replaced slides out. One thing that also makes it difficult on '95s is that the A/C hoses run over the top of it, so you really have to wiggle it in there. The '96 and later cars' A/C hoses run as in the OP's photo, over the fan housing.

I just tried to install this and realized I have the wrong part. In addition when i was making the screws loose on the metal thing next to this shroud something on the bottom of the bolt fell out. The metal thing has 2 really long bolts going through it and the bracket also looks like it attentions to some kind of suspension thing. The thing that fell out I think is a square nut thing that looks gold or bronze colored. How bad is it if I drive the car without that on, and what part is that anyways? Thanks!

I realize this is a very old thread, but if anyone picks this up, what purpose does that rubber part serve when it is not broken and can car be driven for a few days while waiting for new part? Thank you.

I think it’s to allow the rear blower to cool the engine after it’s shut down.
thing to remember is that cooling air is leaking out instead of cooling cylinders.
id duct tape it if I were driving it before repair.

Did you read the thread before dredging up from the abyss? Heater duct.... Cover it up with tape until your new one arrives.... Spend 10 minutes replacing.

Thanks. Yes. I did some reading, but as a car mechanical neophyte 'heater duct' seemed a bit abstract to me. I decode this as duct to route heat into cabin. I have also read that this part enables greater engine cooling. Thus, my question. Appreciate it.
