As I am reading some of your posts I do have to agree the positive comments are more frequent than the negative ones, I was at the post office getting my mail & a guy saw me pull up & walk in, he walked up to me & said you wanna see something funny & he flipped open his cell phone & showed me a picture of my car. He said he saw it one day parked & had to take a picture of it for his screen saver on his cell phone, if that isnt flattery I dont know what is.

I have to say that I've never been dissed for owning a Porsche while living in Maine, Arizona and now Laredo. And I did own a Porsche during the years I should have been going through my midlife crisis-only I was too busy to have one.

Here in San Diego I find it kinda depends on what area of town I'm in. My car being red just adds fuel to the fire I think.

I was in Pacific beach (area full of college age kids and college bars). I was told by two young punks in a total piece of garbage El Camino that my car was a gay piece of **** and they got way more ***** than I ever could. (I'm 39, married 11 years with 2 kids,....I guess they're right). I was 1 lane over from them in a 2 lane drive through ATM. I stopped and actually laughed and then sarcastically said "sweet El Camino" and then informed them that they looked like a couple of queer little douchebags and that instead of wearing their baseball hats with the brim totally flat they should just wear a shirt saying "I'm 19 and can't buy beer yet." They didn't know what to say to that. The great part was the 2 chicks at the walk up portion of the ATM that witnessed the whole thing, they just broke up laughing at my comment, I gave them a head nod & smile and slowly pulled out of the bank lot.

Cool 993's do attract alot of attention!

I get mostly compliments when driving my 993 as well as my Cayenne S.

The negatives are rare usually people get touchy when someone drives around in any exotic foreign car. They usually cut you off, don't behave too neighborly in traffic, etc,...

I mostly ignore those doofuses and enjoy my drive. Unfortunately I've had my share of scratches, eggs, etc, even in my neighborhood by those lowlifers that can't seem to appreciate the finer cars.

As a Physician, I always have some colleagues tell me that their wives won't let them buy a sports car or won't drive their sportscar to the Clinic or Hospital because their patients will think that they arer being overcharged?!

Crazy World we live in!

all you portlanders should go for a cruise to Ashland-
the best way to make a flipping bird disappear is to step on the gas-say bye bye-makes me feel good anyway-if you carry anger and fear with you- all you will attract is the same-

In Hong Kong where Bentleys, Ferraris and Lambos are a dime a dozen, you don't get dissed for driving a 10-15 year-old Porsche...

I am in the Army, and Soldiers love nice cars, so normally I get compliments. Except some friendly banter from the Corvette guys. I like the PCA answer to the midlife crisis comment, "no, its a life long obsession."

I'm too old for a mid-life crisis and don't need another one. For my mid-life crisis I went hang gliding for 3 years. Here's the learner's site:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGJCQ...eature=related
and here's the graduate program in the Owens Valley where I got to meet a very modest Kari Castle, Womens' World Champion, who set several 200 mile+ records
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-myyMLdHjM&NR=1
She did it by criss-crossing the Owens Valley between the White Mtn range and the Sierras.

Just watch (or re-watch) American Beauty, and everything will fall into place for you.
