Default Cordless Impact Driver

Any favorites out there? My main use will be for removing lug nuts. I read about a number of 18V 1/2" square and hex drivers but would like to get your feedback. Thanks.

I have the Milkwaukee 28volt 1/2" square and it works ok for lug nuts. They claim 325ftlbs of torque...

I have been using a Dewalt for a couple years and love it. I have other Dewalt 18V cordless tools that share the same batteries so that's a plus too.

I've been using the Goodyear 24volt(?) unit from Pep Boys for 3 years or more. Cost is about $80. I bought it as a "disposable" tool after so many racers said it worked well. After 3 years of changing tires at least once per month and doing other heavy maintenance, it is working great!

Dewalt has at least 3 18v models, I bought a 1/2" drive 057 w/ 138ft-lb rating, the 3/8" drive is going to be marginal and the biggest, rated at 300 ft-lb, is overkill. I was also concerned about overtorqing the nuts, as these things don't have clutches like the drills do.

I've had the Longacre Racing model for about 18 months and no complaints. Recharges quickly and plenty of grunt to take lugs on and off.

Thanks. Milwaukee and Dewalt were on the top of my list.

+1. I'm a General Contractor and have been using Dewalt hard every day for many years and replaced them when they were stollen 2 years ago.
