YAY!! Fixed my break squeal!
I bought some foam wheel cleaner from the local auto supply store on Sunday and spent the day cleaning the car. I sprayed the stuff on the wheels and directed a load of it into the pads thinking and praying that it might cure my nasty truck sounding squeal. After letting it soak for about 60 secs I blasted the pads with water and saw a bucket load of crap come out.
So now to the test drive.... just 300 yards from the house the squeal was still there but seemed to be fading. Half a mile from the house it had gone!
I've done about 120 miles since then and have no squeal, not even a squeak!! If anyone is interested in the product I used let me know.

It's been bothering me so much for ages and I have been actively watching and talking to others on the list about this issue.
Good luck!

^ Hmm, I can't be sure to be honest.... sorry. Still the same shoes the PO had put in which have about 30% left. All I can say is I've done over 250 miles since cleaning the car and still no squeal. Before that it sounded like a school bus!

Hmmm...I'm curious - I have the big brakes on my 4S and never had a problem with squealing. I make sure that I replace the anti-squeal pads whenever I replace the brake pads and haven't had any issue.
I could understand the '89 p-car not having this, but does the '95 993 not have these pads?

Three Wheelin'
I put new anti-squeal spiders on all my pads and the formula for squeal disaster seems to be using certain non-OEM pads. After washing I can get 50-100 miles before squealing begins again. I'll try this formula.

thanks to CarreraX, I stopped using my clutch to slow the car and actually use the brakes for what their for et voila! (Virtually) no more squeal...
Got tired of cleaning my wheels daily after gettting home from work though, so now I live with it again...

If this works you will have solved one of the world's last great mysteries.
Since it's made for the wheels and tires, were there any warnings on the can about getting the stuff on the pads or rotors? If not, I'll buy some on the way home.
Edit. Never mind. I tried reading for once. The ad says safe for brake components including rotors.

Either you guys have race pads, which squeal a lot, or you are missing the proper spiders or backing shims, because Porsche street pads don't squeal. Squealing is caused by the vibration of the pad's backing plate rubbing against the caliper. This is the place where anti squeal shims go. Pad composition also contributes to squeal. The shims are usually removed when racing pads are used because the high heat generated by on track braking renders the shims useless. Not so with street driving brake temperatures. Check into it.
