Default Steering Wheel Suggestions?

Pondering the slippery slope, I've focused on the stock steering wheel on my 97 C2, without a gold or silver crest. So, I figured I'd just find one with a Gold crest and be done with it. Then I thought about having more "heft" in the steering wheel and thought that I saw a techart steering wheel on rennlist somewhere that was thicker, more ergonomic and . . . of course . . . had the gold crest that started this whole (expensive, I'm sure) meandering. So, now that the slope is calling, I'm looking for suggestions on steering wheels with more heft. I don't track or autoX at all - so I'm really just looking for something with that incredible feel and sound when one really grabs a nice steering wheel (sort of a combination of one's favorite baseball glove, broken in saddle and the handle of a well broken in Hartmann briefcase). Yes, I've used the search function and haven't turned up the incredible wheel ... yet.

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions. Hound Dog.

I installed a Atiwe 340mm Steering Wheel and love the feel. The look has grown on me. I added the crest from a blown OEM air bag. The wheel is avail from Gert at Carnewal for a hefty $1736. Oh, that's not the heft you were looking for?

Raid/Atiwe/FVD/RUF all basically the same stuff. Different materials, textures, diameters. Check out Gert's & Fvd's website for more info. 340 and 365mm are the most popular sizes. The OEM wheels are 380+ mm.

I would like to do one myself, but no way I'll pay $1700. Sorry, I am a cheapskate. I guess at this point if I swap it, I would lean to the RS (non-airbag) wheel.

That's what I want: 996 GT3RS Alcantra wheel with red stiching. If only I can find a cheap airbag portion first.

another nod for the 340mm. I have the FVD Daytona - love it.
