Burning Brakes
This thread reminded of the Top gear where they compare the M3, C63 and RS4.
Clarkson demonstrates quickly how to burn up rear tires on demand.

When I was doing canyon runs, someone got to take a ride in a whole bunch of different style cars. He said the Skyline GT-R was scary and had never seen someone drive so fast. He then said the E55 felt like he was in a limo and you could drink champagne in the back. Obviously it was fast but he felt it was kind of too luxurious for the mountain. Santa Monica btw. =)

The new AMG Mercedes are beasts. I too opted to do my own work done at RennTech. They did a get job. The Mercedes will never handle like my P car, but the power is scary. Here are a couple pics of my Merz.

I have had the pleasure of owning many great cars and the privilege to drive some of the best automobiles on the planet....That said, for the last 30 years I have driven a MB mid sized sedan, always purchased well used, but well cared for. I own one of the first C63s available in New England. It is pure, unadulterated fun.
I have had some friends drive it...I am sure sales will be up in 09....I love Porsche cars, but when you need four doors and four real seats.....

I think one of the German specialists do a 730 bhp-1000 Nm torque version of the 6.3. They actually had to detune it because it tends to eat it's gearbox.
I seem to remember Top Gear did a test with it, and it was close to undrivable with the TC aids off because it bent the chassis.
But they just don't work for me.

I recently test drove one in hopes to buy it but decided not to at the moment. The power was great but I was actually hoping for more, especially after hearing my salesman talk about how its the fastest thing he's driven in ages.
What really impressed me the most about the car though was the steering. It was very exact but didnt have any twitchiness(sp?), that i've seen in the older C classes. Plus my favorite was the ease of which the rear end would swing out, and how easy it was to hold it too. Overall its a great car, and its price is amazing for what you get (most of them go for around 62 to 65, so m3/rs4 price).

As I said, I knew that it would feel/be faster than the RS4, but wasnt prepared for just how much power it put down

to what were you comaparing it? I had a 2008 RS4 and this thing made that feel like a Honda Accord... you sure that you drove a C63 AMG? Did you really put your foot in it? I think that for me the torque is what did it...

I had driven the M3 press car a while back, and the benz definately felt faster. But overall kick you into the seat feel wasn't doing it for me, I feel thats a personal thing though, and it depends on what you're used to for power.
and yes I'm positive it was the C63, that V8 exhaust is just amazing
