Default New wheel offsets

I'm more than likely going to get new wheels. Offsets I'm looking at are :

2x 18x8.5 ET46 o ET52
2x 18x10 ET54.

Are these offsets right for my 1996 C2 coupe (narrow body)? If so, what is better for the front-ET46 or 52?

I did search but I can't verify if the ET's above will work with my car.

Thanks in advance,
chuck

The stock MY02 5 spokes are listed as:

8x18 et 50: Front
10x18 et 65: Rear

Therefore the front offset of 46 or 52 should be fine, however, the rear should be closer to ET 65 for a narrow body and ET 40 for a wide body.

Rims will work fine and the offset, being more aggressive than stock, should look great.

I'll be the disssenting party here

It will depend on ride height, a low car will have issues

You can make the rears fit...emphasis on the word "can". Agree w/ Bill that a low car (say RS height) may have issues....and unless you run a very aggressive camber you'll probably have to get out the baseball bat

Fronts will fit fine (I'm assuming that you plan to run 225/285)

Default ride height

My ride height. Not too aggressive.

I am 25 1/4 inches from ground to bottom of wheel well.

Thanks everybody,
chuck

To provide another point of reference I had my mechanic check the widths and offsets on the Turbo (the LA cab has 9" ET40 fronts) since it's in for servicing. The fronts are 8.5 ET45 and fit w/o rolling the fenders...these are 18" Techart Formulas w/225 tires. So the front ET46 you are considering will fit...what rims are you buying?

(FYI for anyone w/ a WB who's interested, the rears are 10.5 ET46 w/18mm spacer so effectively ET28...tires are 285 and fenders are rolled)

with those offsets and the car lowered is the only issue the tire hitting the outside fender? nothing else?

The lower the ET the further outboard a wheel sits

I put some visuals here

Since my car is a daily driver, I am going strictly for looks/price. I am more than likely going to get a set of RH AG CUPS. My absolute favorite wheel is the wheel that comes on the 993 GT2. Nice inset, not too busy, fluted spokes, etc. After looking at RH 3.6's for a long time and considering buying a set of RS Speedlines for a lot of money, I realized that the RH AG Cup wheel has the look that I want. It is a one piece wheel (has fake bolt to make it look like multi-piece) and is heavy. But it has got the look. The rears have a slightly deeper lip than the fronts (unlike the RS speedlines that I looked at). Not as deep as the 3.6's, but a lot cheaper. The price for a set is below $2k and this will allow me to hopefully pursue another upgrade that has recently come available.

Judging by the fact that these wheels are not discussed too much, I'm sure the are not popular with most folks but I have a feeling they are going to 'complete' the look of my 993 that I've wanted for a long time.

Thanks for all the great info guys. I really do appreciate it.

Well, I really thought about this and decided I can't do a wheel with fake bolts to make it look like a 3 pc. If they made that wheel in a 3 piece, I'd be all over it.

I am going to order a set of RH 3.6's next week. Final answer.

Chuck - Not sure if you decided on the RHs b/c they are really what you want or whether it is b/c you are on a budget, but to be frank if you are budgeting $2k for a set of wheels IMHO rather than buying new ones, you may want to be patient and wait for a good set to come up. $2.0-2.2k will should get you a used set of Gemballas, Rufs, Techarts and maybe BBSs...and likely some decent tires. Used wheels in good condition usually go for $0.60-$0.75 on the dollar unless they are brand spanking new.

Just my $0.02

Good points David. I've bid on a few sets of wheels lately but was always a little late. The RH's have always caught my eye. I have passed on some BBS's and others because they just didn't do it for me like the RH 3.6's. I was really looking forward to the new Kinesis Supercups but they never got made.

I'll wait on the quote for the 3.6's and see if I can do it now.

Anyone have pics of RH AG's on their cars, just or the heck of it?
