Default Front bumperette mounting brackets

One the weekend I tried to remove my front bumperettes to investigate why one was not sitting flush with the bumper skin. On both sides, I sheared off the mounting studs ( I think one of four studs survived) from the backing plate. In the PET these are part numbers 993.505.385.00 and 993.505.386.00. The part is the backing plate with the two pressed in studs. Ironically I just looked something up on that exact page for Arena993 on Friday!

My questions are...

1) can the studs in these plates be replaced, or am I better off just ordering the above mentioned parts from Porsche?

2) Is anything other than front bumper removal required to get at these?

I think it would be pretty hard to replace the studs and the only way I know how to replace that bracket is with removing the front bumper.... what a pain, little jobs turning into big jobs suck.

Paul,

You may be able to use a Dremel tool to grind the studs flush and then drill a hole and mount the bumperettes with a self tapping screw. If you want to get fancy you can use a speednut or nutcert.

Yeah, I wish I left well enough alone...

I'm not sure about the self-tapping screw method since the float of the backing plate presumably allows you to align the bumperettes properly, not to mention that I'm not sure if there is any meat behind where the studs are.

This speednut idea might work. Anyone who deleted the front bumperettes want to sell the backing plates?

Paul,

I'm going to delete my bumperettes when I get home in a week. If you can wait until next monday, I'd be happy to send the backing plates your way....

Matt,

That'd be awesome! I'll hang on til next week. Let me know if your bumperettes come off without buggering the backing plates like mine.
